Facing the Challenge of China, Should India Embrace the U.S.?:TIME Magazine

I'm quite amused. India is supposed to be a rising superpower, but now Indians are talking of being, quote, "under the rubric of a liberal international order underwritten by American power?"

Will India become a true superpower of its own accord?

Or will India just be another South Vietnam, or any other of the long list of failed US client states that thought they could ride Sammy's coattails to power?

India is out of the global reach as long as it falls down the US agenda by entangling with China.

that's the obvious fact and reasonable result. if you have a slight peace of global strategic insight. don't be fed with western media, they are not for your good.

you are asking way too much: their exercise in "independent" thought inevitably gravitating towards only that which was taught by anglo-saxons before their independence, indians cannot be asked to come up with ideas or ways to construct a new world order. That is just so unfair to them

China doesn't help its case either with all its hostilities towards India. It all depends on how far China is willing to go to keep India friendly or at least neutral.

We're defending Tibet against Indo-British imperialism. The best defense is a good offense.

Indo-British imperialism :what:

And how does killing monks can be labelled as "good" offence?

P.S. - Don't give same old argument of kashmir and maoists....

as a bystander, I feel India shows way more hostilities against China. Chinese media don't care too much about Indian news instead they focus on the US, Japan, Europe, Southeast Asia, even South Korean content has more publicity than India.

but yeah, maybe the Ignorance over India (by China) taken by some Indians as Hostility. That's part of inferior complex, but let end this word here.

Am not talking about the hostilities on this forum. China and its policies in general is very hostile towards India, and it keeps needling India with its stapled visa like stunts.

lol, a dog cannot blackmail anyone by threatening to jump to its owner's lap. if it barks too much, it invites only a kick and some trouble for its owner as well. either india chooses to be friendly to its neighbors or it chooses to be surrounded by enemies. why should china offer any strategic concessions to lapdogs like india and japan just so that they could be free from anglo-american control? what is in it for us after these dogs taste the taste of freedom? if there are any promised strategic gains for china, why cannot the two canine countries negotiate with china and state their offers now? too many chinese scholars are saying we should help these lapdogs; i say they are being conned by animals.

Go wash your mouth first and then try this again.

Interesting, general speaking without any solid evidence.

Does US's policy of restrain Indian entry visa provide an Hostility against India? Does Australia's inability of restrain discriminating Indians pose Hostilities?

You just trying to hate what you want to hate, not even enough to back your allegation.

again, keep willingly deluded by west media. teaming up with the west is not something to be proud of. the west had enslave this subcontinent for hundreds of years, something we should never forget, of the blood, tears and shames we bear in history.

Those are entirely different issues.

Am not deluded, China has been backing Pakistan against India from the very beginning. It gets access to middle eastern hydrocarbons, gets goodwill with other Muslim countries, gets a market to sell its defence products.

India hasn't been strategically important for China untill now. But with China's growing stature and increasing hostilities with America, China will find itself more and more isolated. With India-China bilateral trade soon touching $100 billion, India's importance for China will increase. Apart from that if India allies with China, China will not only get more support to secure its trade routes through Malacca strait, it can also get alternative access through India and Bay of Bengal.

Think about it, in the case of say war with America would China want to have a hostile India or an India which is friendly/neutral.

I think Its good for India to side with US

World is too complex to stay alone
China can use allies to encircle us so wy not we also do the same.We should play the american card

India is the strategic ally from the first day, it was Nehru's arrogance on Tibet that angered China. Until now I would say the Chinese is still intently working on an China-India-Russia-Brasil alliance against the west.

and the US, is deseprately prevent that BRICS from any substantial run of international politics.

BRICS are gay. They are like a bunch of guys waiting in line to gang bang Uncle Sam. Economically that is :D
