Why is India so insensitive to our affairs?

Zabi Dear, shall we deny the number of poor and is it our fault that we have population of 1.2 Billion. High population means high number of anything even with small percentage like China has world's largest population living in slums.

But we Indians are still far far far better when it comes to GDP growth, literacy rate, infrastructure(railways and rapid transit), condition of slums, per capita income etc.

Poverty headcount ratio at $1.25 a day (PPP) (% of population) | Data | Table

Watch this link I will say only I thing, "Kya din aa gaye hain ab khud gharib Bangladeshi bhi hamari gharibi pe hansenge"

Well, Indian economy is much bigger and progressive, we are not denying that, but when it comes to the social welfare like poverty rate and other matters related to it, Bangladesh is quite ahead of India!!

Population below Poverty line in South Asia is measured as the percentage of the population eating less food than is required to sustain the human body (approximately 2000-2500 calories per day)!! As in 2011, Population below poverty line in India is 37% and in Bangladesh 31.5%!! That clearly indicates that there are more people living in extreme hunger in India than Bangladesh!! And for other problems for the social welfare, here is a post, posted before in this thread which also shows that Bangladesh is quite ahead of India in these matters!!

Munney!!!! Straight from World Bank Website.
Poverty headcount ratio at $1.25 a day (PPP) (% of population) | Data | Table

2010:-

India:- 32.7

Bangladesh:-43.3

World Bank poverty rate is based on $1.25(PPP) which comes out to be 22 Indian Rupees approx. for India. So, Indian government went for higher limit more than $1.25(PPP) and they settled at higher limit to include 37% of the population under their own definition. If we went for $1.25(PPP), we would have much less poverty.

You have higher poverty only difference our government is not following $1.25 i.e. 22 rupees/day theory because there was widespread public anger in India to go for $1.25(ppp) or 22rupees/day poverty line.

For the 1000th time, Population below Poverty line in South Asia is measured as the percentage of the population eating less food than is required to sustain the human body (approximately 2000-2500 calories per day)!! In this process, in 2011, Population below poverty line in India is 37% and in Bangladesh 31.5%!! Dollar has different values in different countries, the things you can buy in Bangladesh with 1$ is more than you can buy in India with the same money because, goods are much cheaper in Bangladesh than in India!!

Do you have any basic knowledge of economics or you prefer to live in the world of denials that your country has higher poverty rate which has been even shown in your country's new paper.

Now some lesson for a child like you. UN measure poverty rate based on the capability of people to buy 2000 to 2500 kallory of food. Here the measure of 1.25 dollar is absolutely irrelevant as it does not I do ate with that how much food you can buy.

Food price is much higher in India then Bangladesh along with fuel cost. Thanks to huge subsidy of 6 billion usd provide by the government which Indian government does not provide.

It is quite apparent from the well being of the people of Bangladesh compared to the people of India. Hunger, malnutrition, poverty is a common issue in India. Just imagine even your country's minister had to ask poor people to eat rats.

Bottom line even if the 1.25 dollar ppp earning per day is little less then India it is compensated by the huge subsidy in food and fuel by Bangladeshi government which even does not provided by Indian government if measure based on per capita basis compared to Bangladesh.

What you can afford with a certain money that's why is the real measuring factor to measure poverty and un set it the buying capacity of certain amount of food and in that indicator india lagged behind to a great extant then Bangladesh.

Why 1.25 dollar is not used to measure poverty as poverty rate varies from one country to another based on commodity price. With 1.25 dollar suppose you can sustain in India and Bangladesh buy in Canada you even will not be able to buy a cup of coffee.

Accept the fact based on above article posted by extra terrastrial which even indicated that India is worst in south Asia and even worst to born there as a child.

It was your beloved friend Captain Planet who loves to Bash Hindus and always bring poverty in the discussion.

Yes, buddy I know this fact. And that's why Purchasing power Parity defines this. Even talking 2000-2500 calories in account it came out to be 26 Rupees/day per person in India. A person can easily afford 2000-2500 calories in India simply by eating boiled Rice or boiled Potato with 26 rupees but can't afford food rich in protein like Daal or fish or chicken or vegetables rich in vitamins and minerals.
And that caused widespread Public anger in India to expect a person to afford 2000-2500 calories simply by eating rice or boiled potatoes.

Don't rant body, did I ever deny we don't have poor people, I can get you thousands of stories like this from your own Bangladesh how people do to feed themselves. And you laughing at India's poverty away at Canada being ignorant of ground reality in your Bangladesh.

And I gave you World Bank's data you are denying it because you don't want to believe it.

Well, there are many debates on measuring the poverty line in many countries, but the fact is that poverty is still measuring in this way in both Bangladesh and India, so you simply can't deny the stats!!

When it is considered callory it is understood as a balanced diet not just eating potato or boiled rice. It is considered when measuring poverty. I think there is a breakdown structure from un too for this.

Our country debunked the simple calorie mathematics because of Public anger, I don't know and don't want to know what is going on inside your country. If it is 37% defined by government no issue with it because benefiting majority people is more important for we Indians than anything else.

Now we are gearing up for manufacturing boom in another 10 years creating 100 millions jobs and widespread infrastructure to turn around India and facilitate Manufacturing boom and we Indians see our bright future ahead.

Please do a research for that.

No one denied anything. When did you see that. But those datas are 5 year old. Based on 2005 data by world bank our poverty line was 40 percent but world bank put it at 49 percent based on 1.25. The difference was mostly offset cause of the subsidy provided in food and fuel by government which increased their purchasing power. But Indian government does not provide that amount of subsidy per capita like Bangladesh. There lies the difference.

Who told you we don't provide subsidy, we have registered BPL system in India. Apart from this last year government also passed food security bill so that majority of population including outside BPL could afford food items at highly subsidized price.

I don't believe that food and fuel subsidy account 50 billion us dollar compared to 6 billion usd for bangladesh.

Well, we don't want to know about India either, but when some Indians start to express their frustration with some false claims against Bangladesh, we had to check the stats and show the real picture!! Anyways, the process of measuring the poverty in India is still the same!!
