India invites Sialkot Stallions for Champions League

I am not here to prove anything and neither I am claiming that IPL is not popular. I am just indicating that popularity graph is downward as a whole (not just single team). These ratings were around 7 something when IPL was launched.
This must be a cause of concern for sure thus the decision on Sialkot Stallion induction in Champions League. Expect Pakistanis joining in for IPL-6. Bet?

champions league is not that successful anyways......IPL is the real money minting game...IPL is the victim of her own popularity....

Is there any player in SS who plays for national team ?

How many times do I have to mention

Shoaib Malik, the former captain of Pakistan
Abdur Rehman, World's 10th best bowler who was ranked 7th best couple of months ago.
Imran Nazir, one of the most destructive batsmen
Rana Naveed Ul Hassan, great all rounder for domestic tournaments and also represented National side for many years

PS: Rana Naveed might not be representing anymore I don't know but there are other players also who has played at least 1 International match from SS team

Well the big names are good to see in the side but that does not mean they would also perform like big names... Sialkot Stallions has always been the most dominant side of Pakistan and they have played against the big names and defeated them like playing with the kids

They got there names big because they often perform big and hence greater probability that their side wins.
But thats not a thumb rule. Weaker side do wins.

And yes, if they have beaten other teams like playing with kids, then they would have been playing with kids with no big man to resist.:D

The only real competitor against Sialkot stallions in my opinion is Karachi Dolphins who usually manages to qualify for Semi finals and Shahid Afridi, Mohammad Sami and few other key players are part of that side. If you see the win-loss ratio of SS against other teams you will get the idea of their calibre. They have always been playing against big names but the batting of "not-so-big-names" has always dominated against the more popular "big-names" in Lahore teams of the domestic tournament

But then they all were pakistani teams deprived of big international players. I wonder where would they stand against better teams.

Its hard to find a team of 11 local players of ability to match a team with say 7 best internationals and 4 locals.
However we will only come to know once stallions come to play.

People saying we should reject it need to realise it doesn't hurt BCCI if we reject it. It hurts us.

This news has created the hype they were looking for. It will be a better season then previous one.

You are right to an extent.
TV ratings were high and reached a value close to 5 in first edition but the craze is bound to be reduced once the audience just attracted by glamour gets reduced and only the hardcore cricket fans stood out to watch the matches.

IPL popularity has reduced only in comparison to benchmark it itself created.

You missed those who got selected for upcoming Srilanka Tour.
Shakeel Ansar (Promising Wicket Keeper)
Haris Rasool (Great Left Hand Batsman)
Raza Hasan (Super Left Arm Spin Bowler)

I hope so... the issue is nobody shows interest in other team match when local boys are not playing...most of the stadium will remain empty like previous seasons...

Im no big fan of cricket or IPL but if you are hinting to what I understand, I do not think it will be so cause even when you have cricketers from many countries; IPL sells for the teams and where the teams are from not on individual players..

On a side note, if that was to happen, only Mumbai Indian's matches would have been the only ones being watched.. for all the obvious reasons...

Actually Pakistan's domestic teams has been performing better than International team. But may be we rely too much on our senior players and do not want to change them with young blood. See Umar Akmal for example was selected earlier than his age in my opinion because he was a brother of Kamran Akmal? if we see who has scored most runs in the domestic level and choose based on that sole criteria... more than half of the team would be immediately replaced by young blood

If I can remember correctly there was a tournament held between Pakistan National side and the B team... and our International team lost that match from the junior team sometime ago. I think that was eid day or something but that match was held and our big team with big names lost miserably from the juniors

Seriously, Shoaib Malik? Agree with the rest, not this guy

His captaincy skills has always played vital role for the success of Sialkot Stallions. So if not in International side I would still prefer to see him the captain of Sialkot Stallions and keep the track record of success for SS intact...

Champions League will have INTERNATIONAL STANDARD bowlers which will knock Malik over in 10 seconds
