Indian ex-president APJ Abul Kalam due on Wednesday

DHAKA, July 2, 2012 (BSS)- Former Indian president Dr APJ Abul Kalam will arrive in the city on a private visit to Bangladesh on Wednesday to attend the 33rd founding ceremony of CIRDAP, an intergovernmental body headquartered in Dhaka.
Abul Kalam, also known as a great scientist in the Indian history, will fly from new Delhi to Dhaka on July 4 morning and depart on July 5 evening, after seeing Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday and delivering his lecture at CIRDAP on Thursday.
CIRDAP's outgoing director general Durga Prasad Paudyal, Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pankaj Saran and senior ministry officials are likely to receive the dignitary at Hazrat Shah Jalal International Airport.
The CIRDAP, which stands for Center on Integrated Rural Development in Asia and the Pacific, came into being on July 6, 1979 with six initial members for cooperation in the field of rural development and poverty alleviation. The member states rose to 15 as of 2010, with Fiji becoming the latest member.
The body comprises Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Iran, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam and Fiji.
Dr Abul Kalam will also talk to youths from Bangladesh and other member states of CIRDAP and give interview to a private TV channel during his stay in Dhaka, a place he visited last in 2009.

. Few days ago a new dam was inaugurated near Sylhet zone (not Tipaimukh), its foundation stone was unveiled by him 2/3 years ago...great indian soul!!
