Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has been booked by city police for allegedly insulting the national flag, police said today.

Based on the complaint of Lok Janshakti Party national secretary Ravi Brahme that Shah Rukh, 46, allegedly insulted the tricolour in a video uploaded on Youtube, the Chatushringi police lodged an FIR against the actor on August 14.

"Shah Rukh Khan has been booked under sections of Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971. The case was registered on August 14 and has been transferred to Mumbai police for further investigation. The case documents consist some photos and videos too," a police officer said.

Incidentally, Brahme had recently lodged a complaint against Mumbai-based model Gehna Vashisht for allegedly insulting the national flag by wearing it as a bikini.

She was arrested on August 18 by Deccan Gymkhana police in Pune and released on bail the next day.

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh's manager in Mumbai was unavailable for comment.

You know what is the disrespect? The Saffron is at the bottom and green is at top. This is an insult for the complainant.

Yes, just as when Indians were kicking up dust when same happened during Pervez Musharaf's visit to India, do the priorities count, wonder if these Indian players were also booked.

These incidents always reminds me this line by the webmaster "Secular India My Friend" :partay:

Flag insulting is a serious issue.

Those who are not respectful or have no pride in representing it wont understand the significance.

It has got nothing to do with secularism as the usual racist a-holes think.

You may find such a-holes closer at home.

flag insulting is undoubtedly serious issue. But first need to prove, if it realy is an insult..but it seems Indian media is endlessly fabricating something against poor Shah rukh khan...but the issue at least pointed out seems baseless...I've seen many times how Shah Rukh Khan has taken his country side...he is true national (for instance he bluntly speak in favor of India on the allegations made by Shoaib Akhtar)...

Nops! It is a real picture. You can make investigation via google yourself :P

Were you the photographer of the picture (a witness). :D..My logic don't need a proof. I don't need even to check google...I can see the expressions of lady (where is her attention, not toward even the flag) and how the base of the flag has no solid bounding with chair stuff...
