Let me sum up the topic. Kargill was good plan, but it was wrongly executed by the "Gang of fours". Its timing was disastrous. Indian PM had a visit to Pakistan after the nuclear tests. I believe leaders of both countries realized in 98 that "War is not an option" now. But unfortunately Musharaf and was successful in destroying all those efforts.
What were the benefits of that adventure????? Only ex-generals or officers participated can tell us.
What was the loss?????????
Major paradigm shift of US Democrats to India. Clinton's visit in 99 is one proof.
Pakistan lost its claim on Kashmir as a part of Pakistan.
Pak army soldiers, who disguised themselves as Mujaheddins, even the Mujaheddins were upset on that.
This operation was conducted without taking the Air Chief and Naval Chief into confidence. Of course when the Air Chief was informed it was too late.......
Loss of lives of our soldiers.
Loss of hopes for the freedom struggle.
Loss of confidence for us as a nation

Yes, of course the Indian military intelligence failed, but their military reacted swiftly when the realized the situation. Their bofars guns and the IAF strikes provided the final punch. Our soldiers fought really hard, but without the supply lines, air cover, shortage of food, one can't expect to just hold on very long.

Thanks for your valuable time sir. Now I request Mods to close this thread till India and Pakistan fight again. Hope that day never come, atleast in our time friends.

Regards,

But more credible then PAK Army which states that their is not pak solider in kargil before starting the war and later start accepting when get caught over sat phone.

If fact evey other person is more credible then PAK army....... and one knows the reasons.

you seem to be forgetting this...

yeah thats the point...

pakistani troops along with mujahdeens never exceeded 5,000 in numbers...how come 4,000 be dead..
like norboo posted an official list that mentions 473 losses,

well if anyone goes with that nawaz sharif's statement, why dont he see that sharif had a personal grudge with musharaf...

and what about that coffin scandal that raged?

ok,why pakistani troops retreated?

it was not beacuse pakistan suffered heavy casualities, but actually it was the result of sharif, clinton meetings..

News Headings

so to sum it up,
yeah it was indian victory but DIPLOMATICALLY...

They know that, we know that. We have discussed Kargil quite a few times in detail. But when PML-N leager tyrants open their mouths for blatant lies just to malign Musharraf, they do not care that they are maligning Pakistan and PakMil. The Army chief should be sending them shut up calls with facts and figures through ISPR instead of threatening the Chief Justice/Supreme Court. The military chief is still hell bent on defending retired generals, regardless of their crimes!

Well said! That really sums it up. A war cannot be fought on lies and deceit. Mush's strategy of lying to the world that the occupation of the Kargil heights was purely a 'Mujaheddin' action and had nothing to do with the Pak Army, resulted in him not being able to use his air force and artillery. I mean how could the Mujaheddin have had such resources?

The result? A bloody nose resulting in all that you mentioned above.

kargil was a war which shud serve as an eyeopener to every pakistani as to what shithole dere generals and politicians are pushing pakistan into...

just think about the pakistani soldiers which died for dere countries without ever being recognized as shaheed.....

And what of the poor PA jawans without supplies being bombed and shelled to **** with no hope, abandoned?

They say that the poor Indian jawans' blood poured down the sides of the peaks and could be seen from miles away.

Appreciate some links on this otherwise please spare us your anecdotes, which you frequently dole out without being asked for..

The feeling of being abandoned by your country , shelled by Bofors , Grad-21 MBRLs , LGBs day and night , no supplies , no ammunition , no hope , IA capturing each peak day after day , knowing your body won't be accepted by your own country and shown to your own family members .. dats one damn depressing thought to encounter for PA soldiers.

Although I won't call them soldiers after what they did to Capt. Saurabh Kalia.

The postmortem revealed that the Pakistan army had tortured their prisoners by burning their bodies with cigarettes, piercing ear-drums with hot rods, puncturing eyes before removing them, breaking most of the teeth and bones, fractures of the skull, cutting the lips, chipping of nose, chopping off limbs and private organs of these soldiers besides inflicting all sorts of physical and mental tortures and finally shooting them dead, as evidenced by the bullet wound to the temple. The postmortem report also confirmed that injuries were inflicted ante-mortem (before death
