Agni-VI all set to take shape

I hope you maintain your position after Pakistan introduces MIRVs too. (no trolling intended)

I respect your words.
But truth remains it is tough to beat MIRVs irrespective of where they come from.
 
The Agni-VI is also meant to deliver MIRVs. Now if each RV weighs around 500 kg (nuclear device + warhead electronics), the payload of 4 RVs could be around 2000 kgs. And adding up the weight of the MIRV bus, the correction systems and structural weight of the payload section amounts to way too much payload for the ranges you guys are mentioning.

We are looking at delivering a ~2500 kg payload (for 4 MIRVs), and for that the maximum range estimates of 6000 km are correct in my opinion.

In that case 6000 Km is minimum range(with 2.5 ton payload.)

It's max range would be around 6,500-6,800 KM.
 
70 tonne for 6000 km missile is too high .They will have to cut down the weight.

IIRC , A6 also ha an SLBM version.
 
I feel the weight of A-6 is around 45 to 48 tons not 65-70 tons(I explained the reason in post no.13)

Though I believe the weight of payload can vary based on the type of RV (you have assumed 500 Kg). It may be different as well. I think we will only know at what weight of payload it is 6000 Km when more details come out. But you may be right for the scenario you have mentioned.

Though this still doesn't explain the weight vs Range irregularity between Agni 4 and Agni 5. They both have single warhead.

It would seem AGNI V is dimensionally comparable to Soviet/Russian SS-13, which is silo launched, SS-16, which is ground mobile and SS-25, which is both silo and ground mobile. If AGNI V weighs 50 tons, why would AGNI VI weigh less? The Soviet/Russian SS-24 is 104.5 launch weight, canisted launched, rail mobile. Likewise 96.75 ton US MX / LGM-118 Peacekeeper. So, you can have a land mobile 65-70 ton missile (it may simply not be road mobile).

Brahmos is deployed from a 6-axle Tata TEL vehicle, essentially similar to Tatra Force 12x12. That and Russian trucks like МЗКТ-7907 (originally intended for SS-24), MZKT-79221 and MZKT7001/2/3/4 could take a 50 ton missile and make it roadmobile. Provided the missile is stuck in a canister. MAZ-7904 could take a 220 ton payload...

There is multiple independantly targetable vehicle MIRV which needs higher altitude,and much more electronics with the RV-
Hence increasing the weight and complexity of Warhead assembly...
Thats why we see increase in size weight of Agni-6.

Since the missile will have to follow a higer trajectory for being able to 'dispense' warheads at intervals and a manoeverable RV bus....its only logical that they also increased the maximum range..

Previous Agni may be capable of carrying multiple warheads,but couldnt independantly target them..
All were released at almost same time like a cluster bomb and hitting the same general area.
This approach increases the probability if hit,as some warheads may be neutralized by ABM.

you are right but Warheads, basically the RV becomes more unstable with decrease in weight and size during the re-entry, due to increase in acoustics. Small RV's need more accurate and complex and more electronics.. And this is what has to be mastered. A bigger Rv will not need more and complex electronics.
 
why not just redesign the A5 to hold more warheads rather than wasting money to create a new missile with just 1,000km more range?

Great info.

So A 6 will be Rail mobile, but according to a recent news all Agnis will be road mobile.

That news is either wrong or is the case of misinformation(purposefully).

Anything more than 55 Tonnes will not be rail mobile for sure..

Hmm, you make a good point. But given the proximity of Pakistan to India (duh), won't it make sense for us to target Pakistani missiles right at the boost stage? That way we can completely negate the value of MIRV and other ABM defenses.

Knowledgeable junta - please opine.
