$3 billion from Saudi Arabia to the Lebanese National Army

You're utterly misinformed. The main reason behind the escalation of Lebanon civil war, was because the country didn't have a real military establishment. Thus, your claim that such support may ignite a war is null and void.

If Lebanon's army was in good term with Hezbollah, mind explaining why did they shot a Heli which was carrying personnel a of Hezbollah?
The Lebanese people still remember their last civil war, is this an attempt to ignite another? Not that it will work because besides like I said the army in Lebanon is on good terms with Hezbollah and Hezbollah is even a part of the government in Lebanon, this money could have been better spent elsewhere.

Christian Italian crusader lol? :woot:

Yep, he declared war on me from now he's not gonna like his life here on PDF.

I'm not a Christian, I would truly be proud If I were.

7abibi, if you think someone like you is going to intimidate someone like me, then I guess you've got to be out of your mind. If you don't want to hear what offends you the most, you should stop cryin' blood at someone like me.

You don't even know what I wrote, talking about poor attitude while calling people I'm sensitive to scumbags who died for our people.

I'm not trying to intimidate you online smart guy. I said you've declared war on me and I'm going to follow all your posts and refute all your views and lies and hatred against Iranian people and Palestinian people.

You harassed me several times, and I gave you a medicine of your own.

I never show any sign of hatred toward the Palestinians and the Iranian people. But the issue has to do with the Mullahs' regime, Hamas.

Ignoring the angry discussions going on here, let's get back to the issue at hand. With the US keen to pivot into Asia, the Saudis are feeling that they have to play a more important role in securing the region. They are clearly feeling the heat from the civil war in Syria and feel that the blowback of this will eventually come at home and destabilize their lands. The $3bn given to the Lebanese Military is an attempt to professionalize and prop up the Lebanese Government.
This has two effects:
1) It tries to control Hezbollah which has increasingly become a state within the state. The rise of Hezbollah and made Southern Lebanon into a separate state. With Iran being close to Hezbollah, the Saudis and the Jordanians are uneasy. Propping up the Lebanese military and government seeks to reduce this influence of Hezbollah
2) It will help control the eventual flow of Jihadis from Syria into Jordon, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, etc. The first line of defense, when and if the Jihadis set their sights away from Assad, will be Lebanon. Propping up the Lebanese military to gear up for this fight is essential.

The Saudis have clearly shown that they are willing to pursue their own agendas with our without the Americans. This is a drastic shift from policy that has always seen the US and Saudi Arabia move in sync. Things are heating up in the Middle East, and this latest move is set to further worsen the situation.

The US doesn't want a rebel victory in Syria and is willing to help Iran and Iraq to not allow it. There has been an operation in Iraq as we speak to support this.

And the snake Saudi Arabia claims to support rebels but doesn't want their victory either and is working with the US to make sure any Islamic organizations don't have any success in Syria.

At the same time they're all trying to allow this to benefit Israel. Try to contain rebels yet also isolate Hezbollah.

Syria doesn't pose a threat to Israel and Iran is too far to be considered. They also soon will have better ties with the world.

Last two years alone show instances of them helping each other, not to mention the freezing of American aid to Lebanese military. I do not know what instance you speak of, it could very well have been a mistake.

All your links have nothing to do with Lebanese army and Hezbollah. One was them shooting on a SYRIAN helicopter, last three talking about removing Hezbollah from government and is coming from politicians.

Considering the fact that Hezbollah is a long-standing ally of Syria, this move assures that there is going to be a tough stand on this issue which concern Hezbollah the most.

As for the last three links, these politicians are linked to Lebanon's defense establishment.

They're the current gov't of Lebanon, not Hezbollah or whatever group.

Israel never threatened to flatten Lebanese cities. We are not Assad.

We can perfectly go against Hezbollah: in 2006 we killed over 500 Hezballoons in 1 month and indured over 1000.

maybe before Israel did not because of international response but today Assad has given anyone a free license to do anything from acquiring nuclear weapons to genocide .
