Putin Looks to Pakistan as Cold War Friend India Buys U.S. Arms

The foundation stone of the so called Russia-Indo 'strategic partnership' was....... wait........... wait.......... to deny Russian arms to Pakistan at all costs..... so where does that leave you now?

You are mistaken mate, Russia wants all the cake.... this is precisely how they are going to arm twist you into doing things you aren't cooperating with.

No, you are mistaken my friend. Russia is doing business with you guys just the US of A does, the only thing is that they are a bit late. They need to sell their hardware and they need a market. Now the equation is like they are loosing that market with India (defence per se) to some extent and they need to cover that gap of that much. Pakistan is a perfect choice for that. India has complained and will complain to both US and Russia against selling any hardware, but at the same time we know that it will fall in deaf ears, but we do as a practice, so that's a fact and our policy makers aren't worried at all!:disagree:

Secondly, when it comes to offensive hardware that will be used against India then there is a security pact to take care of that, so that's taken care of.

Next if we come to the PAKFA and our involvement in that pact, both sides have their own reservations in terms of financial sharing and technical offsets. Let me remind you here is that we have the right to hold off the money unless the original deal economics deviates some where.

The lessons learned from VIkramadita issue, comes in handy this time. IF they arm twist us, we can then shut all other collaborations with them, things which are apart from just defence. Which is not going to happen and Russia at this moment cant afford to make another trouble out of comfort, they need assistance and as long as we are neutral it helps them, else we have our plugs too and I know this very well..

Selling a dozen odd Mi35 which are being retired across the world hardly is a landmark change.

Think of it on the lines of safer-and-stable neighborhood, not necessarily health of Afghanistan itself.... the neighborhood that stands to loose or gain, includes of Russia (all Tan states), China, Pakistan, Iran (some extent India as well). Think of it in all spectrums, from energy to terrorism.

Who are the parties in a stable government @ Afghanistan..

Make it in a sentence.

So the question of parties involved in a secure Afghan setup cant be defined, fair enough.

Lets move to next part.

What prevents Russia from having mining rights in Afghanistan , right now, when China is doing it in a bigger scale and India also doing it.

People should not count their chickens before they are hatched :azn:
A new Russia - Pakistan relationship is just beginning

One thing is absolutely certain that Afghanistan will NOT become the
exclusive backyard of Pakistan as it happened from 1990 to 2001

Because then the whole ISIS - Al qaeda - Taliban people will make Afghanistan their safe haven

Nobody ie US / Russia / China / India wants that

Even Afghan people have seen some freedom and prosperity
in the post 9/11 period and they would like it to continue

Things are changing, and changing fast in Afghanistan........... I predict a future where most things are run under Pakistan's diktat within 2 - 3 years time. Call it whatever you want, you also see the same end-game. I see China as biggest beneficiary in the long term, not even Pakistan.

That doozy feeling of 'freedom' costs 1 trillion USD. No one is willing to spend that anymore! :D

Ok. Lets take that question away too... why Russia is not going for deals..........., maybe they are not interested in mining or dont have global companies or whatever....

Interesting point you have stated.

An Afghanistan under Pakistan's diktat.

Has any community, any area, any group agreed that their country can be ran from an external nation's diktat.?

If yes, is that the majority/populist voice?

If no, you are proposing it doesnt matter what they think but we will have our way on any place without the will of that country?

They'll be manipulated into doing so...... like they always have been............... when was it ever a question about majority, populist views, or the will of people of Afghanistan? I'm just extrapolating what has been happening to them........ both of us will be here on this forum in five years time, debating different angles to why Pashtuns/Pashtun tribes behave the way they do, beats me, even I don't know why they do the things they do......

Btw, there is no such thing as will, or free will of Afghanistan, there never was!

I dont do predictions.

I agree there was never a free will for Afghanistan, so as a responsible neighbor isnt it your duty to direct them towards that rather than exploiting that weakness???

Jab tak s-300 hamare hath lag na jay,tab tak ye aisi waisi batain hai.

aur agar s-300 hamare hath lag gya to india ko MKI kabaar(scrap) ko bech dena chahiye

@he-man, btw oil is my business......... price of crude may fall to USD 70 before Saudia and others cut production by 1 to 1.5 million barrels per day (depending if Russia cooperates - if they don't, get ready for up to slashing of 2 million barrels per day), that will stabilize it back to 85 - 95 range. No matter what, Russia will be smiling once again in two months time! :D

IT will go below $60 just read it :)

So you are saying if India too buys s-300 or s-400, the future and present purchases of PAF will be futile and waste of money. right?
