Sad times, as we see China and India growing closer. My fellow Pakistanis dont realise how the relationship between the two will affect us.

We have already betrayed our Arab brothers in favour of China. We thought China will help in containing India. But on the contrary, they are now teaming up, joint banks, trade deals worth billions, joint military training, closer relationship. I fear we have been taken for a ride by China for our strategic location and China has fulfilled its objectives, but has not helped us in our objectives of containing India.

India in the future will be able to do whatever they want with Pakistan(except for Chinese objectives here) and China wont bother. Definately China wont help us in a conflict with India.

China cant ignore India if they want peace, same as China will not sacrifice Pakistan for making friends with India.

Gist of PM speech in provincial leaders' forum,

"I believe foundation for India's development will not be single pillar of Centre but 30 pillars of Centre and states.

In India's Constitution, state governments have predominant role in economic and social development. I speak of cooperative and competitive federalism where states compete with each other to create jobs,

Am asking my ministers to move conferences out of Delhi and state capitals to other cities so that they get benefits of hosting such events

Such a forum is a first that India has with any country. And, it is appropriate that it has started with China. China and India have enormous economic synergies and we also face similar challenges, "

this will not last, indians are emotional touchy people, when they feel offended by chinese medias or any small moves in their so-called backyard or at border, they will forget the big picture and back on their old track to be hostile, mark my words.

Balme it on our TV sop operas. Too much emotions, ego and what not any pragmatic solution to both the countries will be met with mass hysteria.

Don't know if you are aware of the Congress Party those morons went for a war over a dispute which could have been settled over a table. 60 years later, they through the National Media and the education system have created a very negative image of China, becasue it made their Godfather Nehru a looser, (in other words China showed how big a looser Nehru was.)

China India have never fought any war before 1962, how conveniently distrust was festered when it is open that both the war and the loss both were Nehru's foolhardiness.

The road will be a long one and I hope both the countries are strong enough to hammer out something long standing.

China has fullfilled its objectives in Pakistan. In the process also given us a few freebies. But the wider geopolitical objective of Pakistan is the containment of India. And to stop Indian misadventure.

You will not let go of 'Pak China' friendship because of your geopolitical and economic interest in the region. But will ignore Pakistans broader concerns. This is becoming a one sided friendship.

After all these trade deals, economic tie ups, joint military training, will China help us in a conflict with India? You yourself say you will not sacrifice your relationship with India. That means ignoring Pakistans concern. Our objectives in our relationship will be ignored. And sadly we have no one else left to turn to.

Pakistan just planed and executed an attack in Kabul to kill the Indian Ambassador, at the eve of Modi's visit to china, to disrupt talks with China :P

Maybe you should just listen to them. :D

No permanent friends or enemies in diplomacy and the world. age old adage.

There are no permanent friends only permanent interests
You need to understand that.....
Chinese can't risk their economy for Pakistan and it's not their fault also....the world runs like that .....US does business with China,China does business with us....

No one is willing to put their own country at risk......you need to diversify your options and do business with saudi, iran, israel,US everyone........
you can't just rely on China or Saudi

Yes you are right, sadly we have been late in understanding this. We have lost the Saudis by refusing to help them in the Yemen conflict because China supports Iran. We have given our 100% in our Pak-China friendship. The return has not been satisfactory. We are billions in debt to China, and China has used Pakistan for Economic and Geopolitical advantage.

@Horus what you say?

This is the problem guys, wake up. The moment someone says something not inline with what the authorities want you to say, you are then silenced. Has Pakistan also become a dictatorship under Chinese rule?

Did you seriously expect to achieve that goal? Its not possible to contain a country that grows rapidly and has diversified its options. Larger countries find it difficult to contain smaller ones, its virtually impossible for a smaller country to try to contain a larger one. Not anymore.

You should not worry too much though. China and India will never be friends. China is a hegemonic power or at least it wants to be, India will never accept that, so there will always be tension for you to exploit, apart from the border issue that is not going to be resolved anytime soon.
