Breaking, K-8P qualifies for combat

Everyone hating on the K8.
It's relatively low stall speed and ceiling make it perfect for engagment of slow flying ACs, Helicopters and UAVs.
Also remember that the best Ground Support ACs are slow ones like the A10 and SU25.
So stop bashing the K8.
Who hated this aircraft? This is the most sold aircraft sino pak aircraft. It has the least crash rate of most jet trainers.
In a nutshell it has been transformed from an intermediate trainer to and advanced trainer, thats it.

which radar is housed by K 8 ? is it wise to use K8 for combat duties keeping in view its low speed and service ceiling ?

Don't need a radar to fire WVR missiles. IR seekers on the missile are used for locking on.

For anti terrorist COIN/CAS operations, aircrafts with low stall speed and operating costs are becoming more important day by day.

A combat K-8 might not be needed for PAF as it has access to armed drones but would be very lucrative in terms of export marketing to countries that are on a budget and can get a combined training platform.

There is saying, something is better than nothing..............if nothing else it can be used to drop bombs on TTP hideouts in Zarb-e-Azab......

Neither do some of the rebels where the Hawk has been deployed.
No air force has the luxury to design and arm aircraft for one particular mission else there wouldn't be a need to put sidewinders on the A-10.

Aircraft of comparable role, configuration and era to the K-8.
sir I think u have not read my previous post . how an air to air missile can be used against insurgents ? tell me ( I don't think they have aircrafts ).

Yesterday I was wondering why PAF do not improve K8 as ground strike aircraft and today there is news that AAM was test fired from K8.
Strange, very strange "modification" in my opinion.
We should enhance its ground strike abilities. It can carry light rocket pods but it should be improved to carry LGB too, or hellfire racks for anti tank role ......

K8 does not have a targeting pod . u cant carpet bomb the whole area . radars are necessary . how will u see incoming intruders ?

Just receiving news that PAF has successfully test fired AAMs from K-8P thus clearing it for air combat duties.

So the cat is finally out of sack. No doubt I keep on saying that
"I love the way Pak Armed Forces keep things secret".

Let me add Sir that it was a bulls eye and had been tested against different types of targets.
Congrats :pakistan:.

K-8P can be used for hunting down enemy drones and helicopters if this news is verified. This is the first step in upgradations. We can do some more additions to make it an advanced jet trainer with limited combat role. Remember that K-8 already have the ability to carry rocket pods. It can be used to carry 4 Burq missiles at a time for knocking out some tangos!

Even F-86 Sabres were able to carry AAMs. This capability will help PAF in doing more with less resources.

we need 500 of these planes in case of emergency we sud have enough to keep enemy busy while our other aircrafts do their job ..
we also need atleast 2 sqdn of twin engine fighter jets.

By that logic, we should remove the AAMs on our F-16s too.
Apart from COIN operations, it would be used as a point defence fighter and also against slow moving targets like helicopters, transports and drones. Nowadays, even some gunships are armed with AAMs.
