Breaking, K-8P qualifies for combat

Just receiving news that PAF has successfully test fired AAMs from K-8P thus clearing it for air combat duties.
I was hoping for more of a CAS & ground attack role specially against the insurgency and cross border terrorism against CPEC.

but if they are meant to defend against Afghan airforce A-29 Super tuancos and Hinds then fair enough.

re a regular force like IAF yes they will have very small RCS but then again they cant see far enough and not sure if they are data linked to AWACS to help in engaging bigger jets..

but then again, they can make good export option for smaller countries and join the Super Mashak export success story.

By that logic, we should remove the AAMs on our F-16s too.
Apart from COIN operations, it would be used as a point defence fighter and also against slow moving targets like helicopters, transports and drones. Nowadays, even some gunships are armed with AAMs.

thats a good example.. against future Indian Drones (trying to copy Americans) instead of scrambling F-16 or JF-17.. these jets will do the job just fine

we need 500 of these planes in case of emergency we sud have enough to keep enemy busy while our other aircrafts do their job ..
we also need atleast 2 sqdn of twin engine fighter jets.
500 Training Platform ? 60 to 100 Is Good Enough Because Pakistan Do have other Birds to as i heard Few Months Back Turkey Gifted 40+s birds To Pakistan
It Will Be waste of Money , Infrastructure , Man Power list goes on and on To Keep 500 Birds ,

PAF should also do some developements on K8, both internally and externally. Planes like K8 are probably the best choice when it comes to fighting against groups as we do today. No need to use bigger planes, as they are more expensive to use.
the precision strike package offered by block 52 F-16s is not matched by any other PAF jet. so in some missions we are forced to use them

Remember earlier we even armed the FT-5 with AAMs, the K-8 is much more capable platform.

Sir FT-5 Sqns were I think called "Rahbers" and they had this one a very peculiar task too as they wud act as "Bait" for the enemy aircraft. Plz correct me if I am wrong.

oh my God .K8 needs targeting pod not AAM for coin operation . AAM is for point defense . incorrect analogy .

When There is a Will There is a way in Past 2 to 3 Years i have Seen a lots of Will by Pakistani military Forces
It Can Be installed it depends on the Operator , How much they want to Develop there bird Since Pakistan Force dont have that much Funds to Keep Getting Top of the line system which ever they Find they need to Develop cast effective credible solutions

Sir all K-8s can carry guns and also bombs. Rocket pods can also be attached to these so thats not an issue. AAM is something new and is only for K-8Ps as they are more advanced than K-8s. Given the long loiter time of K-8s, they can easily be deployed in anywhere in Balochistan.

Good news but waiting for confirmation.

Such development is going to help a-lot in area being cost-effective against slow moving targets. Hope to see further enhancements as well. @Windjammer can expect PL-5 or PL-7 to be integrated and tested this time.
