President Trump launches military strike against the Al-Assad regime

Yes ! Unfortunately that's it (Always) ! It is necessary to be able to completely saturate the S-400 and only a rain of cruise missile (Tomahawk) launched from submarines and boats is able to do so.

...

Brother read my posts. The content of it. Think about what I wrote and ask yourself if I am not right. Be honest. Forget about this forum, none of us are leading anything or responsible for anything of this. However what we should not do is pretend that there are no problems when there are plenty. We need to help solve this, not brush it aside or make excuses.

In the case of Syria we are as much to blame for this conflict as those we complain about who support Al-Assad. I have spoken to many Syrians in person and online (never talked about it here) and I could feel and see their frustration and disappointment. And you know what? I don't blame them the slightest. Try to look at this from their position. Same story about Iraqis previously. Why did we abandon our own brothers and sisters post 2003 when we should have engaged with them and tried to gain a positive influence. Instead we allowed a bunch of foreigners (Iranian Mullah's) to influence events too much and this influence gave us the Iraq that we have seen so far. Chaos and nothing else. Now, finally, but presumably due to US pressure (once again Arab leaders seem incapable of making their own independent policies) KSA-Iraqi relations are back on track when they never should have left those tracks.

When Saddam was murdering our Shia Arab brothers in Southern Iraq in the early 1990's we welcomed them and KSA was very popular until post-2003 when our silence and lack of response made many question our rulers and blame them. Once again the problem/faults are ours here. Not saying that there were no faults from the Iraqi side, there were, but the strongest party here (KSA) should always be the one who takes the heaviest burden.

Or our acceptance/trying to make friends with a person like Al-Assad pre-2011. For what exactly? What did we gain? Oh, some House of Saud member married into the Al-Assad family but other than that?

Or what about Ali Abdullah Saleh? Why the hell did we host that incompetent dictator after the Yemeni people removed him in 2012? Today we are fighting a war against him.

But of course we cannot really speak about such issues openly because a horde of loyal puppets will cry "traitor" and other nonsense forgetting that regimes do not equal nations or people. This in itself is a major problem in the Arab and Muslim world.

:blah:

WORK !!! Work, work and work to achieve the necessary technology for the next 50 years, 100 years, 200 years. Because that is what has always been ‘the problem’. By then shut up !!!

...

There is no "blabla" but the reality I am afraid. As for the other part of your post, I fully agree and I have talked about this for years and here KSA/GCC have done well lately and I can appreciate this (and trust me I do) but this is not what we are discussing here.

I don't know maybe I am the strange one here but I simply cannot accept status quo nor do I understand if anyone does that. Once again with our numbers, money, landmass, potential, number of talented people, youthful populations, resources, strategic geographic position connecting 3 continents with each other etc. we should/could have been success stories to emulate for other fellow developing countries but that is not the case. That should never be accepted. Misery/incompetence should never be accepted otherwise there will never be improvement.

My generation and most Arabs my age are mostly educated, informed and ambitious people who want to change status quo and try to at least emulate our past glories or at least have more success than the current generation in power and the previous one. Is that really too much to ask for?

Some sources suggests it was strike against base where Syrians stored chemical weapons and Russians were there... hmm.

It puts Russians into extremely bad situation politically if they lied to UN.

Instead us fools on this forum, some of us not even living in the region are wasting hours on exchanging insults and creating enmity instead of trying to solve problems and work together. Blaming each other as idiots as if we were ruling our own countries while in reality we are just drops in the ocean without any influence yet we create hatred against each other. Way to go, way to go people.

What can you do though? Organize demonstrations in the Arab world? Make public statements advising or better yet questioning our governments? Run for elections for change? Every option puts you in danger. It will get you detained at the very least. And if there is no legal route, you are left with creating your own alternative social movement. Which will make it easier for governments to target you. And if you take it even farther, with a revolution of some sort, if you succeed you will be target of international community. Really there is no option.

Unless some certain people change. So we are stuck with the 'blah blah' deflection stop from loyalists, or the 'resistance' program. Both have some benefits, but their cons outweigh them without a doubt.

Last night Tomahawk cruise missile attack on Syria's Assad regime.

None of the world leaders are honest, be it Trump or Putin. They are there for the interest of their countries, not for showing their honesty. WMD was a lesson to all people who believe their leader was honest.
Ah so WMD was not true hence everything that comes out later, even through UN investigations, are false. The UN came out and said, Assad used chemical weapons the last time. But wait, the broad brushed "everyone lies" is more effective. Wonder if that works when China makes any claim.

The Russians were warned by the U.S (being reported).

Something interesting: It is being said on the US channels/military experts that Russia has S400 in Syria and they turned it off to allow the US to hit one base. S400 can take out a tomahawk.

Mass demonstrations post Arab-Spring are combated actively by the regimes in power. If 100.000 people went into the streets in Riyadh to protest the recent chemical attack or just the state of our region, they would have been prevented. If what I have discussed in this thread was discussed by a too big number of people, say on the internet, our discussion would be censored and the "leaders" of such discussions/forums would receive a visit from the authorities. This is the sad reality and it is not much different in most Muslim nations, sadly.

You are completely right about everything else and those two categories. You forgot the 2 other categories among the many. The ultra-radicals (finding solace in ISIS-like groups - mostly hopeless people or very religious people who became misguided and who were also politically motivated by seeing the status quo and the lack of action) and the ultra-liberals who renounce everything about their country, culture, people etc. and never acknowledge anything good.

I don't like putting people into boxes but all I am saying is that serious changes are needed on many fronts and that we cannot any longer ignore this.

And trust me, objectively speaking, there is nothing to celebrate about this news. An US president ordering an attack against an Arab state. But this is how desperate some of us have become and this should also give the leaders things to think about but I am afraid that they are mostly only caring about keeping their thrones intact and only doing the minimal necessary not to face too much potential opposition.

And the Russians will sit as spectators? No, the S-400 is there to protect their own soldiers and assets not Syria!

This US attack must have been coordinated with Russia
either just recently or since some behind the doors understandings were reach some time ago like the ones with Usrael..meaning they can attack anything as long as it is not Russian or the Syrian Bashar palace or residence..

This is not true! The capacity of the S-400 is overrated. Like all such systems, it is enough to saturate them for put him on his knees. That is why the Ballistic Missile Defense System does not work against a massive nuclear attack.

The only way america will have an impact in the Syrian war is to send thousands of soldiers there, Trump as a president should know this.

Good news for raytheon . 100 m usd order in the pipeline.
Since this will have no real effect on the war in syria , americans could be retiring their missiles due for expiry.

It wont be over.
President Trump on Syria air strikes: Years of previous attempts at changing Assad's behaviour have all failed

What baffles me too is it is not in Arab gov't's interest to ignore what is going on around the region. Since both the 'resistance' axis and extremism will threaten them more in the near future. So it appears like we can only wait until that happens, and they will leave our younger generation with a mess to deal with from the ground up. Which is the complete opposite of taking any preventive measures and will be such a waste of lives, money and development.

Anyway, that's enough stressing over that, we can do that tomorrow until we get tired again, lol.

On topic:

Supposedly grounded air craft was targeted in the strike. The scale of damage is unclear. But, it is reported by Arab media outlets that SAA and allied forces are observing the damage in the airbase targeted.

You obviously don't know what I was referring to about WMD, a little "error" on US side that more than 500,000 people paid their lives for, including thousands of men and women in US military service, and left a power vacuum that later became the killing ground for ISIS.
