Afghan Taliban capture Pakistani soldiers in cross border attack

i dont know why, perhaps they see the taliban as their assests and puppets.

Or may be as a counter to the ones sitting in Kabul who will create problems and already are making for Pakistan.

If we finish of our ties completely with them, another anti-Pakistan establishment would rise, fully supported by our arch enemy who doesn't wants Pakistan to exist and will create troubles through their puppets or assets in Kabul.

If Afghans accept this reality and agree to become a good neighbor and not be dictated by our arch enemy, then Pakistan also can think about becoming a really good neighbor, as we as Pakistanis don't like to see Afghans suffer and be ruled by beasts who have no dignity for human lives, but when it comes to sovereignty & dangers to the existence of Pakistan, then unfortunately Pakistan will have to take such unwanted steps of supporting people who are not gonna harm its interests.

It should be mutual, you kick them out, we will kick these beasts out, otherwise this war is gonna keep on going and the only losers would be we Pakistanis and Afghans, while others will reap the benefits. Our people will die and are dying, theirs are not and they are enjoying seeing us fight.

This is the reality and unfortunately a very very sad one.

We Pakistanis want to see Afghanistan prosper, but not at the cost of Pakistan.

The FC is like a police and come under control of provisional police of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

That is Frontier Constabulary, not posted at borders.

These men are from Frontier Corps, under Interior Ministry but led by Army officers.

I was today at CMH Peshawar and saw quiet many of FC personnel being brought in injured, some critical, as well as Army guys. It was a hard sight to see, i normally go to CMH and nearly each time i see something which makes me cry. Many times see the Pak flag wrapped coffins of soldiers being loaded in Ambulances, or amputated soldiers in the wards.

And as for what Jana has said, i do agree with her, something really fishy this time has happened, won't go in details, will tell when its time.

Sorry got confused in constabulary and corps. But Frontier corps is also a paramilitary. Right?

Because 'reconciliation', which would involve the Taliban participating in the political system and giving up their violent struggle, would be the fastest way towards ending the insurgency in Afghanistan, speeding up the withdrawal of NATO, and therefore also affecting the insurgency in Pakistan.

Reconcilation with thugs and murderers?? With due respect what is your take on reconcillation with Hakimulla mehsud or the bunch of mosque killers TTP or punjabi taliban?? (keeping in view what they are doing to innocent people every now and then).

You are still keeping the stale funda of strategic depth up in your sleeve, arent you??

That's Frontier Constabulary but they do not man border posts, that is the job of the F.C(Frontier Corps) they are a para-military outfit that functions under the Interior ministry of Pakistan they are comparable to the Punjab Rangers.

Reconciliation with these low life scum is impossible however, a wise man does not pick more quarrels than he can sustain, the Taliban are not a universal outfit if that's what you think, rather, it is an uneasy alliance of local militant groups that themselves pose little significant threat, some among these militant groups denounce Taliban ideology and have actually helped the state fight against the Taliban from ZainulAbbidin to Turkestan Baitni ranging to the NWA Taliban, it is worth noting that they are actually against TTP and hold a peace accord with the GoP.
Our policy is to reconcile with these groups.

because of people like you the war is only escalating!

Most of the Taliban aren't thugs, their ordinary Afghan Pashtuns who see America as a unfair occupier of their country for many reasons and one of these reasons is that America and her allies ignored the Pashtun majority of Afghanistan when they established the Afghan gov back in the early years of the war!

Now you see, if a reconciliation was to take place today, more than 70-80% of the Taliban fighters would lay down their guns thus the Taliban movement would become weakened and they would no longer have a reason to justify their un-Islamic terrorist tactics of brainwashing young boys into becoming suicide bombers!

sounds like a good idea to me. [About PAF launching attacks at Afghan Taliban.]
And what if US soldiers/equipment are killed/damaged in the strikes? The US Drone attacks in Pakistan's tribal regions are meant to kill terrorists, but always kill more civilians.

As well, the Taliban seem to be waging a media war over our opinion. Before, they just beheaded both soldiers and seven-year olds. Now, when accused of beheading a kid, they vehemently defend themselves and say its false, and try to back it up with research. They also turn over the Pakistani soldiers without demanding anything nor harming them.

Seems to me that the Taliban is trying to change their image.

35 Pakistani soldiers missing after Taliban attack in Mohmand: ISPR

* Spokesman says Taliban handed over five troops to Pakistani consulate in Jalalabad

PESHAWAR/LAHORE: More than 30 Pakistani troops are missing following Monday’s attack by the Afghan Taliban on a border checkpost, with the Taliban claiming to be holding up to 10 soldiers captive, the Pakistan Army said on Wednesday.

Major General Athar Abbas, spokesman for the Pakistan Army, confirmed the Monday attack and said 40 Frontier Corps troops were missing after Afghan Taliban overran the post on the border between the Mohmand and Bajaur agencies, 1 kilometre from the Afghan border.

Jalalabad: The Taliban handed over five troops to the Pakistani consulate in Jalalabad, Afghanistan, but the whereabouts of the other 35 is still unknown, he said.

“We are looking for them,” he said.

Reports from the area differed and reflected the isolation of the area and inability to get reliable information.

Security officials in the mountainous region said up to 65 soldiers were missing.

“Eleven of them have reported to the base while 10 crossed into Afghanistan accidentally and are now in the custody of Afghan forces,” the Afghan border police commander however put the number at 10.

According to the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), the Afghan Taliban claimed that they had captured “dozens of Pakistani soldiers” after the attack.

The channel said while attacks by the Taliban on border checkposts were relatively routine, it was unusual for Pakistani soldiers to be held by the Taliban in Afghanistan.

A Taliban spokesman claimed that the Afghan Taliban have detained Pakistani troops on both sides of the border. He said that about 30 soldiers were being held in Afghanistan and 10 in Pakistan. reuters/daily times monitor

Like Iranians and Turks walk into Iraq to fight the terrorists, we will have to take the war to the Afghan Terrorists. If we rely on gay soldiers of US and NATO we not going to get any where. How the hell terrorists come from there and US satellites do not see them. Carpet bomb their hide outs with C-130s.

I am sure you already know but just in case....Pashtuns are not majority in Afghanistan...yes they are the largest ethnic group but that is very different from calling them majority...

Buddy this is life, not friggin Star Plus, we don't have "Dramas" here. The abduction of 35 soldiers is a matter of grave concern and if you think it's a "Drama", you are welcome to keep your nose out of this issue.
