  • TTP claims responsibility

December 3, 2022

PESHAWAR: The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) on Saturday claimed responsibility for a gun ambush that killed three police officers in northern Pakistan, the second attack claimed by the group just days after it announced an end to a ceasefire with the government.

Police carrying out a patrol in Nowshera, a district of northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province which borders Afghanistan, came under fire on Saturday evening, a regional police deputy inspector, Mohammad Ali Gandapur, told Reuters.

He said three police officers were killed on the spot and the identity of the attackers was unknown.

The TTP claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement.

On Monday the TTP announced an end to a months-long ceasefire, claiming a suicide attack in the southern Pakistani city of Quetta two days later, which killed four people and wounded more than 30.

The Afghan Taliban have been facilitating peace talks between TTP and the government since late last year.

The Pakistan army has conducted several operations against the militants in their strongholds in lawless districts along the Afghan border in recent months.

TTP is going rogue with no end to violence. Taliban attacking border is another headache for your army. Your new army chief will have no time to deal with India. Good luck dealing with this situation and keep Kashmir issue in limelight.

Army knows how to deal with you guys

You just need to act like a good boy and don't use your military as a tool to win elections for BJP next time in 2024

Many attacks are not being reported ,there is more than 1 attack taking place on an average in Pakistan. PA dosent have the resources or money to fight this war.

That unfortunately might not occur.

Are you mentioning that out of concern for Pakistan and Pakistanis OR are you merely pointing out since TTP is scoring which brings a relief to your heart ?

That bold part is key, like or hate IK one thing he did well was call out India's fascism in Kashmir, the current setup will not doq that hence why they are loved so much by indians.

Lanti army does everything but protect Pakistan.

Lt Gens too busy protecting the Army from legitimate criticism instead of battle readiness.

Stop with this postcolonial nonsense. "Calling out" is as useless as doing nothing. It might even be worse, because it shows that all you can do is talk. We watched IOK slip into Indian hands in front of our eyes. Daylight robbery, fully allowed by the castrated Establishment.

I know IK had good intentions, but they don't mean jack if they aren't followed through with action. He should have clearly and publicly tasked GHQ with keeping IOK on fire. Develop more sophisticated, denial ways of doing it.

But, of course, instead we will lower our standards instead of raising our capabilities. Now "calling out" is success.

This kinds of attacks require a more comprehensive intelligence effort to combat; to track the masterminds behind the funding and coordination of these attacks.

Hopefully the new chief with his experience with the two main intelligence agencies will come up with a comprehensive kinetic and non-kinetic strategy.
