74 Andhra lawmakers quit over Telangana issue

Beacuse there are lot of reasons. First, Hyderabad has become one of the nerve centres for economic activity. Many fear Hyderabad going to Telangana would means the city could lose business to Bangalore and Chennai. Second, 50% of the city population consists of Muslims and they are there since Nizam's times. They don't want to be a part of Telangana because BJP is strong in Telangana. Third, the Andhrarites have invested billions of dollars into real estate, businesses and industries. They fear about their investments. Then there is naxal problem and there lot of other issues

A lot of non-Marathas like the Tatas & Ambanis have made investment amounting to billions in Mumbai, but that didn't change the fact that Mumbai is the capital of Maharashtra State nor did Gujurat or other states asked for any stake in the city. Same applies to Hyderabad.Hyderabad is in Telegana region, you cannot shift to Coastal Andhra. The best way is for the 2 states to share the city as a common capital with control under the Telegana.

As far as UT for HYD is considered, a lot Mumbaikars of non-Maratha region will also favour UT status for Mumbai but that not gonna happen.

The matter is between the concerned parties: Telengana and Andhra. Center should play a constructive role. Let them decide in an amicable way.

at least the IT sector is not affected . i am on-line with my colleagues in Hyderabad . seems we have 95 % attendance there.

Bandh total in Telangana

HYDERABAD/WARANGAL: Telangana witnessed total shutdown marred by violence for the second consecutive day. Life was brought to a standstill at many places.

Tension prevailed in Hanamkonda when the Telangana United Front (TUF) Warangal district co-convenor Tummala Shobharani climbed atop a water tank in the APSRTC district bus station here, on Wednesday, even as the bandh called by Telangana JAC crippled life in the entire Telangana region for the second consecutive day.

Shobharani climbed atop the water tank and shouted slogans demanding the immediate formation of the separate Telangana state. She also demanded that those who have not tendered their resignations for the T cause, should do so immediately. Several TRS and other party leaders convinced her to come down.

As she was climbing down, the staircase leading to the water tank came crashing. Later, a cop climbed the water tank with the help of a rope and brought her down. The drama went on for over an hour.

RTC Telangana JAC staff and workers gave their support to the 48-hour bandh on the second day by conducting 'Vanta-Varpu' (mass cooking) at the district bus station in Hanamkonda. The RTC workers served the food to agitators. A group of Kakatiya University students tried to gherao TDP MP Gundu Sudharani's residence in Warangal, but the cops stopped them.

While Telangana supporters ransacked the BSNL office at Godavarikhani in Karimnagar district, TRS activists pelted stones on some eateries and shops run by Andhra migrants in Shadnagar town in Mahbubnagar district. Police later dispersed them.

Educational institutions, government offices, banks, petrol bunks, cinema halls, hotels and other business establishments remained closed across the region on the second day also, while RTC buses were confined to the depots.

Production in Singareni Collieries mines were affected for the second consecutive day, with the workers and miners staying away from their duties. Sources said the SCCL management suffered a loss of Rs 14 crore due to non-production of coal for two days. About 1.25 lakh tonnes of coal to be produced came to a standstill with 69,000 employees keeping off from work for two days.

Meanwhile, extending support to the MPs, MLAs and MLCs who resigned, several ZPTC members, MPPs and MPTC members also tendered their resignations on Wednesday.

:) The Muslims of Hayderabad also did NOT to be part of India but you by using force included them into India so dont give us the emotional scene here.

2. Yes fears of all sides are ligitimate and must be taken into consideration. Just like all those dozen insurgencies the movement for Separate Telangana State also date backs to early years of Independence

2. When

So atlast u got your agenda over here .... I was wondering what you were doing on this thread ... enough of religious bashing

These dummy politicos are wasting time over Telangana.
India has more pressing concerns like Lokpal and Maoists to deal with.

do these Gults think creating Telangana will solve their problems? Their ideological ancestor Srimarulu potti was the first one who was responsible for creating Andhra out of Madras Presidency - and directly responsibly for the linguistic division of india into states!!

Andhra has come around a full circle and now these cretins want another state carved out!! At this rate - every 20-30 years-a sub group will creep out claiming interest of his constituency and India will become 500-600 states - like we were before the british came and cleaned things up for us!!!

Because, investments have been made by Andhraites. All their property is in Hyderabad. Hyderabad is a cosmo-politan city. And the sentiment is not there in Hyderabad. There is ZERO support for Telangana in Hyderabad. The MP of Hyd is against separate state. Several greater Hyd ministers and MLAs refused to quit and all the bandhs which are being called for are with the support of people from telangana.. No hyderabadi supports saperate state.

Mana kastallu eee picholki em ardham aoutadi , em anna ante bharatdesham yepudu koolidipodi ni kukkala lekka chustuuntaru

For the Muslims of Hyderabad who did not want to be a part of India, there is a promised land, heaven on earth created in 1947 which lies west of India. They are more than welcome to go there.

As far as hyderabad is concerned culturally it is Telangana. Hence Andhraites can't claim anything on Hyderabad.

And those who have invested in Hyderabad and live there should consider themselves as Telanganites and support it.

Please don't ask me to choose one over other.
Sorry, I am neither Telanganite nor Andhraite but Hydera-bad-ite.

The actual name is Telugus not gults. And no not all telugus are rooting for separating the state. Some are in favor and some against.

responsibly for the linguistic division of india into states!!
Ignoring the derogatory reference(Cretins) , new states have been carved out in the last decade or two not necessarily on linguistics basis, but divided nevertheless.

Their ideological ancestor Srimarulu potti was the first one who was responsible for creating Andhra out of Madras Presidency

Mr. Potti Sreeramulu was not the ideological ancestor of Telugu people, he was one of the many who decided to stand up for the perceived rights of the telugu people in the erstwhile Madras Presidency. I was not born at that time and can only state what i have read.

and directly responsibly for the linguistic division of india into states!!

I am curious as to what should be the basis for the division of states?Linguistic? Population?Area?
