ALAPPUZHA (Kerala): Nine British students have been booked on the charge of disrespecting the Indian flag during the famous Nehru TrophyBoat race here.

The students, studying para-medical courses in Kerala, allegedly draped the national tricolour around the lower part of their body while cruising on a house-boat at the Punnamada Lake where the boat race was taking place yesterday, police said.

President Pratibha Patil was the chief guest at the event. When the students disembarked from the boat, police gathered their personal details and a case was registered, they said.

They were let off after registering a case at the North Police station here, police sources said.

They should have been fined for this. In Uk too there is laws that u cant deface the Queen's face on money and other things.

Yep defacing flags is a big no no. Especially in Turkey.

BS reason to screw up the lives of young students. I don't see them burning the flag or ******* on it. All they did was wear it around their body. So now we are saying that human body is ****** in front of a piece of foreign cloth.

Your right about especially in Turkey they are some of the most passionate football fans i have ever seen when english teams go to places like Istanbul the atmosphere in the stadiums is mind blowing. Some English people cant handle their drinks when they go abroad and then act foolish like showing their bums to random strangers i think they call it mooning and in conservative countries thats a big no no.

This has happened in my state.
They are students here and all know they did it unintentionally.
They have been let off soon after registering a case and will probably end up paying a fine.

Sorry hate-mongers... there isnt any scope for showing anger in this case.. try another thread.

It is funny that this happened in God's own land = Kerela !

wonder since when did that state develop love for India so much,

Leave the students after keeping 1 nite in a lockup with no charges and some fine.

Heck They even wear their country's flag on their @ZZ.

UK tourists are going around the world and breaking all cultural norms. Reminds of the chick who strolled in Dubai Mall in a two piece bikini
