India today reacted guardedly to Pakistan Army’s new military doctrine that described homegrown militant groups and internal dangers as the biggest threat to the country’s security.

This is seen as a paradigm shift as for decades the Pakistan Army has focused on perceived danger from India.

“It is a Pakistani assessment, which is not for us to comment upon. There are many analysts and interlocutors from around the world who have been saying this in public and talking to Pakistanis about it,” a senior government source said on condition of anonymity.

The source added “If that assessment is one that Pakistan has arrived on its own, it is a matter of interest”.

Eleven years after it became involved in the US-led war against terrorism, the Pakistan Army, in a paradigm shift, has introduced changes its operational priorities for the first time and the new doctrine describes the ongoing guerrilla war in the tribal belt and along the western border with Afghanistan and bomb attacks by militant groups as the greatest threat.

The new doctrine, running into over 200 pages, does not specifically link the threat from homegrown militant groups to any sort of shift from the Pakistan Army’s earlier focus on India.

However, security analysts say it amounted to a paradigm shift.

Good if pakistan has realized who is the real enemy..... Hope they dont select their enemies..... Terrorism in all kind need to be wiped out from this planet.....

Good move by the Pak military.

Wish them a good tango hunt!

Pakistan Army should realize that they can not take revenge by military option . Its just beyond their reach and capacity.

Can we call this a paradigm shift? The internal insurgencies are really a facet of the overall security threat Pakistan faces from external adversaries. The insurgencies are to be seen as just another dimension of that threat.

So finally Pakistan realizes yet another truth that everyone else knew, and had been telling them since time immemorial.

Anyway, good to see that sense has dawned on Pakistan, albeit late.

This means nothing, an absolute HOGWASH... both India and Pakistani Establishment are way to paranoid of each other and will be at each other's throat for the foreseeable future

What's in it for India ???
They set their priorities to eliminate internal trouble. That's good for everybody. And the day they achieve it we will back on page 1 :D

Well I have switched on my stop watch for the Pakistani establishment to back track.....hope another 26/11 dosent happen. The terrorists will want to shift the army's attention from them so I guess plans will be on for an attack in Indian soil.

Anyway, for India, Pak ceased to be a major threat
