Apple CEO Tim Cook on "low manufacturing wage" in China

Nothing stops Bangladesh and Pakistan from doing the same. VIetnam is making a killing here. Pakistan is a little messed up here to woo the business. Maybe in a few years.

If Xi does not watch out his behavior a lot of electronic assembly is moving out of China into other areas. A lot of component manufacturing will also move out of China. Pakistanis and Chinese members make it sound like China controls the Samsung's, Apple's, HP's of the world. They don't.

As far as Indian laborers goes I assume they will take 10 hour factory shift in climate controlled environment over working in the rice fields any day for 5x more $$$. Apple does not care if making an iPhone in India costs $x+y instead of $x in China. They will eat it for geographical diversification and hedging on China. Tim Cooks (an operations guy) has calculated the numbers and decided on that. Personally I would not have. But I am not Tim Cooks. Of course Mr @Bilal9 is a bigger authority on Apple's operations than Tim Cooks. What else is new on PDF ?
Electronics manufacturing, Silicon comp. assy. is an engineering skill takes years to master. You said it right if things keep moving on current trajectory China may start to loose skill sets developed in last 2-3 decades.

We must acknowledge, China too started as assy house and supporting components industries developed slowly to current state in last 3 decades and it will happen to new emerging manufacturing hubs including India dur to logistics, cost, Time to market and geopolitical issues.

To be frank, US big tech has the MOST engineering talent in the world. She hires the top PHD everywhere.

But US MBAs are toxic. Engineers do the work, MBAs take the credit.

Also one motive of US importing talents is to destroy them, making them do trivial jobs in Apple and Google, so that the native country cannot utilize their talent.

Huawei is just 2nd tier talent in China, The top tier of Tsinghua, PKU 80% went USA.

TSMC is just 5-6th tier talent globally, drawing gradudates from obscure Cheng Gong Uni, Jiaotong Uni...etc

These days, a feminzai, LGBT blacks has infinitely more opportunities than smart and hardworking people in USA.

again ur dirty lil commie brain has been behind firewall too long

no one outside of china blames anything other than china for covid

no one asked for lockdowns or any measures like chinese concentration camps

we do not blame our own government

and if we do we’re allowed to

try blaming chinese govt for anything
Then enjoy your millions of deaths if you chose to, fool.

Engineers are paid big bucks in America compared to anywhere on the planet. Some MBAs are toxic. They are not running the successful companies in America

US chip companies are still the best on the planet. USA owns 60% of the world's semiconductor manufacturing equipment companies. China could not hold our jock strap.
USA can use other places on earth to match China's low cost assembly.

China is the only country in the world with 100% ongoing sanction to still be able to mass produce 7nm/5nm chips.

While the US can't even keep the TSMC's Arizona foundry functional.

TSMC was built by the traitors from Mainland China, but their gene is still Chinese, therefore superior to yours.

Engineering skills requires engineering degree.

Depending on the product line electronic manufacturing requires certain percentage of technician type skills and certain percentage of engineering skills. Some people may have a point that Indians lack the vocational skills to be good technicians as factory workers. Training technicians is not too hard. Our Chinese friends are overstating it. They forget how bad they were when they started

USA indeed produced the best electronics in the past and maybe on par with China today.

But these days, production cost in US is likely 4-10x compared to East Asia.

And these days, US lag behind in IC production technologies even though Intel has far more prestigious PHD than TSMC.

For example, if TSMC has been leveled into ground zero, China will remain unaffected, whereas the US will lose 70-80% of its chips supply chain.

They don't have the capability to hold up the entire supply chain like China is doing right now.

Every company has their experts. Do you really think engineers want to spend their days on the phone trying to raise money, negotiate sales, do budgets, and deal with human resources nonsense?

There's more to a company than designing widgets. Most of it engineers would simply loathe to do.

Huawei top sales and leadership are R&D. Ren Zhengfei was top engineers in PLA, and he got sidelined and bullied because of his bluntness,

When Ren was in charged, Huawei make sure most leadership went to nerd, who have proven themselves in R&D work first.

So what..just because one company was successful doesn't mean all companies will. Most engineers (not all) are engineers because they like engineering. Duh! The guy who was the original engineering brains of Apple (Steve Wozniak) never wanted to be CEO.

Most don't want to be dealing with the sh*t I just mentioned. If they did they would have gotten an MBA instead of an engineering degree.

They probably wouldn't like being a bus driver or a tennis player either.

In your country, all those non-STEM amateurs who holds a MBA degree would keep abusing the word leadership, until all your high-tech companies have been running into ground by those self-righteous fools.

No wonder the superior Chinese technocrats will soon annihilate your guys in this ongoing high-tech war.

We don't blindly follow the unqualified leadership.

So you really think the list of world famous Chinese tech companies is larger than the US list?

Maybe those "self-righteous fools" seem to be doing a pretty good job.

The market value means nothing.

Huawei alone with the support from the Chinese government/market can best Qualcomm + Intel + TSMC + ASML + Samsung + Apple combined.

It is the most sanctioned company in the world by the US, and it still manages to become the biggest comeback kid in the history.

Name me one US company which is as immortal as Huawei.

More are coming. Oracle is going bankrupt. I got info that Chinese is abandoning Oracle like crazy because native DB such as Huawei guassDB and Alibaba Oceanbase is replacing Oracle.

Oracle was once 2nd biggest SW company after microsoft not too long ago.
