AQ Khan Released from House Arrest!!!

Khans genius was not in enriching U, or making the device.

He was a master Project Manager. He got the job done working within the triple constraints that are faced by any project "Time, money and Scope/quality". He smuggled, borrowed, stole whatever that was necessary and he built links, he built his network, he got the job done. Its probably a miracle that he did it, but he did and only he could've done it and that is probably more commendable than building the bomb himself. Achieving something at impossible odds.

Then he became a traitor and gave OUR designs, and OUR materials to a foreign country. That's treachery, and if he wasn't who he was, he would've been hung. I would treat his release with caution as god knows what else a traitor can do.

I agree to the first part completely.
but when he became a 'traitor', he enjoyed tacit support of ppl who matter in pakistan and that involves army. without which he couldnt have created such a big racket.

It has to do with as India as it proved to the world that when a nuclear smuggler against whom a lot of evidence is available Internationally gets scot free then how can one trust Pak for conviction of Mumbai attack terrorists against whom the evidence might not be that strong. It has proved Pak's incapability and this is what he has said "Deception".It has proved Pak is not trustworthy.

It has very little to do with India - you are trying to make a connection between two unrelated events. Read the statement made by the GoI, that 'India has been deceived". We had no understanding or agreement with India over AQ Khan, so where does India come in here?

On the other hand the West does have an interest in its release, since he was linked with Iran and North Korea, both hostile entities to the West.

The GoI is, as it has with the Mumbai attacks, going on a smear campaign against Pakistan, spreading lies and distortions.

There is zilch evidence about that. Not even the great CIA investigators on his case have revealed anything like it. Some military people might have been involved, but not the higher ups, certainly not Musharraf level people.

He gave his confession sitting right next to Musharraf on live television.

There is no point in replying to Indians on this specific thread, its not worth it, a simple waste of bandwidth.
As for D.r Khan, it is good he is finally released and we can still use his expertise in modernization of our nuclear assets specifically our ghori missile program which seems to a complete halt after he was removed. He is a scientist and so should not be wasted.

I disagree, personality cults in Pakistan result in a lot of power for those personalities. And this guy had security clearances that even some Civilian leaders did not have.

I think there is a falw in the analysis a lot of people do when they analyze Khan his operations and network. Everyone agrees that he built an amazing network of contacts and suppliers, but then many people argue that he couldn't have taken a C-130 flight smuggling out blueprints without Military knowledge.

The nature of Khan's clandestine network meant that beyond the broad outlines of his network, not many people would have detailed information about his work. Its rather silly to think that every time he met with contacts or exchanged information/components etc. that the COAS was informed.

He was given infrastructure, funding and the authority to get the job done. He got the job done and then some more. There is nothing remarkable about him peddling nuclear secrets without the support or knowledge of the top brass given the nature of his work and network.

you want india to believe in your investigation agencies and judicial system, at the same time freeing a known prolifirator for the lack of evidence. evidence against A Q khan is more stronger and widely accepted then 'mumbai' attacks. so, there is no reason for india or any other country to believe that pakistan can deliver justice while failing to do so in another instance.
they are both related since pakistan has tried to cover the culprits in both cases.

There is no way he is getting anywhere close to any strategic institution or program now.

The West is going to have a hard time dealing with the fact that he is free, to put him back into the environment and institutions that he helped build woudl be sheer lunacy on Pakistan's part, and just inviting trouble.

The guy shoudl do what he said, run charitable works, and set up educational institutes. If he can manage to set up world class educational institutes, then that will be a service to Pakistan as great as his work in the nuclear program.

First, that is not what the GoI's statement says - they talk of being 'deceived', and to be deceived you need to have some agreement that was violated in the first place. So total lies and distortions there from the GoI.

AQ Khan's case is completely different from the Mumbai attacks, and the dynamics behind his release are completely different from those related to a terrorist attack that has been almost universally condemned in Pakistan.

Then it would be a shame because in the end even our strategic assets are not free of western influence. By the way West is not just troubled with AQ khan, they are with our nuclear program as a whole.

This decision just has the earmarks of undoing Musharraf. If Musharraf hadn't jailed him, they wouldn't have released him. There are political reasons for his release, none of which makes actual sense.

Politics is a dirty business... After all if it weren't for politics India wouldn't have gotten so many concessions in the case of the Mumbai attacks either. So as far as India is concerned it should expect politics more than anything else from Pakistan.

And by involving this guy you'd be giving them all the excuse that they need.

Pakistanis are always short sighted. This jubilation won't really last... Some of our present leaders are the biggest American stooges of all time. This guys release would further expose Pakistan's nukes to western influence than protect it. These guys are making one blunder after the other and I doubt these are just simple mistakes.

Heck how much you wanna bet AQK would end up being kidnapped... In all probability he'd be handed over. I was expecting the Army to intervene and overrule this decision but that would've resulted in a coup... The stooges are playing a very dangerous game and our army's hands are tied because of our public's support and jubilations.

GOI's statement is not to be taken in isolation but in the entirety of the situation of indo-pak relations at this point. pakistan has promised to go after culprits once the evidence was provided. the evidence has been given, and pakistan self-set deadline has passed and yet there is no report on investigations. meanwhile, there are media reports that pakistan may shift blame on BD. In this scenario, when a known 'nuclear peddler' is released in pakistan court for the lack of evidence, when pakistan had earlier promised to take strict action against this man as well.
this is the context, when you cant pin down a known 'nuclear smuggler' against whom there is overwhelming evidence, how can you be trusted to go after 'mumbai' perpetrators?

A Q khan and his network is also universally condemened and infact they pose a bigger threat to the world since these are ppl who have been passing nuclear know-how to different countries for some bucks.

maybe, you say truth, but the use word 'concessions' is not really appreciated.
plz name any concession that india has got that is more than a country can expect from the other country.

Guys someone answer me please! why Indians hating Dr.AQ Khan? Is it just because he sold blueprints to Iran and North Korea?

I actually agree with A.Rahman here. A very rare thing, perhaps as rare as the sighting of a comet.

Pakistan provided centrifuges to North Korea in a shipment supervised by the army under President Pervez Musharraf.

North Korean plane landed at an airport and people are saying that army had no knowledge of it?

If thats true then India might fly in without being noticed too.
