At least 68 people were killed when a pedestrian bridge over a river in the western Indian state of Gujarat collapsed on Sunday, plunging hundreds of people into the water, officials said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is in his home state Gujarat for a three-day visit, said he had directed the state chief minister to mobilize teams urgently for the rescue operation.

Fifty navy and 30 air force officials were sent to the scene along with a national disaster management team to trace missing people, the government said in a statement. A five-member special team was appointed to conduct an investigation into the disaster.

RIP. So sad to hear that.

Last week & this week are bloody.
There is some resonance with South Korea tragedy: Lot of people suddenly on a pedestrian bridge. Everybody seems to love crowds after 2 years of forced isolation. They should realize that, just like isolation, just squeezing together is not good too.

132 Killed In Gujarat Tragedy, Was Overcrowding To Blame?

Both seemed to be different. This was a design flow resulting in resonance, something designers had very little idea back then. Whereas the Gujrat cable bridge seemed to have collapsed due to inadequate load bearing capability. Either under-designed or allowing way too many people on it than the original design.

IKR? People can be their own enemy!!

The Korean stampede seems to have some criminal who was shouting to push forward, and now these people jumping on the bridge.

It's a 100 years old

60 dead as 100-year-old suspension bridge collapses in Gujarat's Morbi

There are many factors including resonance.
