At least 68 dead in bridge collapse in western India

Aside from the bridge quality, the people were literally swarming it, some even stay on it to play and sway it around.
Honestly, this is a bad showing all around, were they trying to make a point that the bridge is ultra sturdy or something?

40% commission Gujarat model at work. Public money is being used to buy opposition MLAs and build statues, all preffered contractors are pals of modi-shah-yogi homerotic trio.

141+ dead now. What a sh!t show of incompetency and backwardness....exactly as one'd expect from hindutva lmao

Much better than the islamic failure next door that got 1/3rd flooded and in on the verge of bankruptcy, can't build a lame *** dam in 50 years

Those people were just idiots... but bridges are supposed to be built with a factor of safety of 3, so if it was built for 200 people, should have been able to handle 500. Nonetheless, resonance might have played a part and the current corrupt government will undoubtedly blame overcrowding and people jumping on the bridge, it has sadly given them an excuse for corruption and shoddy work.

Renovated bridge collapses a few days after opening.

Indian ‘quality’ people. They f*ck up everything they touch

I think it's due to corruption. Maybe they downgraded the material and mark-up the price. If not so, how can the renovated bridge collapses several days after opening then.

I check the video and look like the bridge is not tall, so if all of the people on the bridge can swim, there will be no casualty when the bridge collapse

Both seemed to be different.
A spokesperson for the operators Oreva Group told The Indian Express newspaper that it appeared too many people were in the middle section of the bridge "trying to sway it". A visitor on the day of the incident told NDTV "some youths started shaking the bridge intentionally, making it difficult for people to walk" which might have caused the cables to snap. Mr Vijay Goswami, a visitor from Ahmedabad told reporters after reaching Ahmedabad: "Before leaving the spot, I alerted the on-duty staff to stop people from shaking the bridge. However, they were only interested in selling tickets and told us that there is no system to control the crowd. Hours after we left, our fears turned true as the bridge eventually collapsed.

One was natural flutter due to wind over Tacoma Narrows. The other, induced by people on it. Different stimuli same responses.

No tender, old wires unchanged, total 100% corruption, not even 40%, welcome to 5 trillion chai pakoda economy.

I saw video right before the collapse. It appeared as if many people were trying to actively collapse the structure by jumping up and down and rocking it.

Indians celebrate a Pakistani soldier dying, then they lose 150 on Diwali

These are all after the fact eyewashes. Facts are

1. The bridge was heavily overloaded. Many more than maximum carrying capacity were on the deck at time of collapse. The bridge is a means of passage, not a platform for celebration.
2. Deliberate attempt to induce oscillations. Suspended structures eventually break at resonance.
3. The bridge suspension cables did not break. What failed was the deck due to excessive warping (twisting) like a ribbon. most likely, the stringer connectors broke loose and then the deck broke and the people slid down. The suspension cables seemed to be intact.

I read about the resonance in my high school physics class. I cannot believe I would see a similar accident in my lifetime

RIP, If this was happen in Pakistan Hindu's of India would be celebrating.

True. The lowly backward barbarians were celebrating floods in Pakistan all over Twitter and Facebook (even their "verified" accounts with thousands of followers did so).

In the past decade, 70+ innocent Muslims were lynched by hindu extremists. This bridge collapse killed 141+ already and counting. Maybe Hindu concept of Karma does have some validity to it lol

Once in centuries level flood with 1/3 of the ENTIRE country under the water killed ~1717 people in Pakistan. Meanwhile, in your backward sh*thole, comparatively minor floods in 2013-14 in just three small states (out of 28) killed ~6000+

The backwardness and incompetency of hindus is just laughable lol. We all saw it again during Covid-19 as well. While india was one of the worst countries in terms of deaths and virus spread, Pakistan proved to be one of the best at handling it. Inferiority-complex stricken incompetent failures lol.

The interesting thing to me is what when tragic news is posted about Pakistan, there are countless Indian hordes who are saying the most vile things. Yet looking at the comments on this and other videos, all comments are sending thoughts and prayers. This is how we know we are on the right side, when our people don't see the need to be massive pricks at every moment of every day, unlike the Indian side.

What a retarded post ,when 70% of your country is a barren desert wasteland, it's not surprising that the death toll was low. More than the scale of the disaster, its the location that matters, those 3 indian states had way more population than Balochistan. Even a small disaster striking a populated area can cause way higher casualties than a large disaster in the middle of nowhere, look at the the earthquake that killed 100,000 in your shithole country back in 2005, thats like more than the combned death toll of all indian natural disaster combined since independence.

Btw, this "once in a century" rainfall might be a lot for you desert dwellers but it is considered a severe drought in India ,your country became an open air gutter with like 400mm of rain, even the arid parts of Rajasthan get that much, we have places that get twice that amount in a single day, average monsoon in India brings 1200mm of rain, with that amount with your crappy 4th world infrastructure your country will become mariana trench.

With 300,000(10 times official as per UN report) deaths, your covid deaths per capita were half that of India, so you did better, but nothing to boast about really, Somalia, Burundi, Congo, Afghanistan all did way better, best way not to have covid deaths is not to record them. All trash countries had low deathtolls since they don't have even the basic infrastructure to record them
