Old news about Iran launch

Bajaj Auto to sell Pulsar in Iran from April`07

Bajaj Auto plans to begin sales of its top-end motorcycle, the Pulsar 180cc, in Iran from April.

Sanjiv Bajaj, Executive Director, BAL, said, ``We began despatching completely knocked-down kits (CKDs) of the Pulsar 180, modified for local needs, from December 2006. So far, we have despatched 3,000 bikes.``

BAL has an alliance with an Iran-based distributor, Fars Motors. Bajaj said this distribution agreement could develop into a joint venture but that would take some time since they need to see how the business goes.

BAL is ranked as the world`s fourth largest two-and three-wheeler manufacturer. Founded in 1926, BAL has a turnover of USD 936 million. The company manufactures motorcycles, scooters, two wheelers and three wheelers in different styles, capacities and designs. It has developed a number of brands for the Indian market as well as exports. The Bajaj brand is familiar in over a dozen countries in Europe, Latin America, the US and Asia.:cheers:
