Bangladesh Air Force is interested in Dassault Aviation's Rafale

Pakistan is lucky that India didn't have Rafale during Kashmir Skirmish. Bangladesh is lucky that France wouldn't supply arms to Myanmar.
BTW what happened to love of Putin among Bangladeshis. Why are they even discussing European and American Fighter jets. Don't you guys love Vladimir Putin?

You have so far discussed Su-30sme, J-10, Su-35, Gripen, Super Hornet, Rafale, Typhoon and F-16. Few more discussion left, J-20, F-22, F-35, J-31.

Here is what Chinese think of Gripen. This is for moron Shourov, Sayed Amar Khan, Bilal Mia.

The PRC should take Gripen E as a template, says Senior Colonel Li Chunghua Hua of the PLAAF: https://www.globaldefensecorp.com/2...erformance-of-j-11a-against-rtafs-gripen-c-d/

"The overall cost is not expected to cross $8 billion for the entire 36-aircraft fleet, French sources said. MMRCA stands for medium multi-role combat aircraft".

Internet sources say the unit price of goldplated Rafale exceeds $200 million. We have almost no diplomatic exchanges with an aloof France and neither it has any real clout over international diplomacy. Its only job is to backstab the USA on international matters. Why buy such expensive planes from them?

Better, we buy F-16 American. Its diplomacy favors BD and we export $6billion worth of goods there. BD must be reciprocal to the USA though it does not push or expect so from a poor BD. Buy the older version of F-16s and revamp them to Block 70/72. This plane is worth money.

This would be the best option but I do not know if USA would sell the AESA radar and AIM-120D missile to BD. India is likely to be against it.

@Avicenna - What are you thoughts on this?

US will sell the AESA radar to BAF but I don't think AIM-120D will be cleared for sale. But, they will clear the sale of AIM-120C7 IMO and that is more than enough.....

Yep 16 refurbished F-16 Block 50/52s with AIM-120C7s will neutralise MAF at a stroke and that is what BD needs right now!

Google translation:

Despite Bangladesh's interest in the Rafale, the French fighter plane has very little chance of landing in Dhaka against the American, Chinese and Russian armadas.

It may sound incredible, but Bangladesh is interested in Dassault Aviation's Rafale, according to concordant sources. The tri-color combat aircraft has already been bought by its big neighbor India and a possible acquisition by Dacca would make sense in terms of fleet synergies. According to our information, the Bangladeshi Ministry of Defense has the budget to purchase eight combat aircraft. However, the tri-color fighter, which is not the only one wanting to land in Dhaka, is far from being the favorite in Bangladesh.

The Americans landed in force in 2019 in Bangladesh to offer the Bangladeshi armed forces a multitude of armaments, from fighter planes to missile systems through combat helicopters. Boeing has already won an international tender and is close to an agreement to supply the Apache AH-64E. Until now mainly supplied by China, then by Russia, Bangladesh has the firm intention to modernize its armed forces, in particular its air fleet made up of MiG-29 and Chinese combat aircraft Chengdu J-7.

Almost non-existent French exports
Not surprisingly, France exports very little to Bangladesh. In ten years (2009-2018), French manufacturers have exported 25.7 million euros, including 8.4 million in 2018, to military equipment to the Bangladeshi armed forces. They were delivered over the same period for 12.8 million military items. At the end of 2018, there were 42 licenses granted in progress to Bangladesh for a total of 2.9 billion euros (including 2.6 billion naval materials).

Dear Bangladeshis, you can get these birds cheaper from India. Just wait for 1 or 2 years.

The whole world do politics by nuclear weapon and Bangladesh do politics by MRCA

Doubt Bangladesh would have access to -D.

However, it seems the US will need more allies in the Indo-Pacific region.

The Philippines seems to be backing away from the US somewhat.

If Bangladesh somehow serves a function for Uncle Sam, nothing is off the table.

I think the APG-83 would also be off the table as well as the F-35-derived electronics, that would render all IAF fighters apart from the Rafale blind. 16 F-16 Block 70/72 with AIM-120D would mean that IAF would always be nervous of BAF on their Eastern border as only Rafales could counter it.

BD would never serve enough of a function for USA, like being allied with the USA against China, to get this kind of capability.

That's easy to divide the number of aircrafts with the overall cost of the deal signed between France and India when the $8 billion package include offsets (half of the deal) training, totally new infrastructures, undisclosed number of ammos, special Indian demands to the integration of certain weapons, systems etc.

According to the French government,the flyaway cost of a Rafale as of economic conditions of 2014 was as follow ;

€78M for a Rafale M
€73M for a Rafale B
€68M for a Rafale C

Yes, Rafale is a little cheaper than Eurofighter to buy and operate.
