Not yet become a decision, PT INKA still has chance to win this order. There will be open tender and BD minister has already visited PT INKA last year

I hope so too brother. PT Inka coaches are very popular in Bangladesh. People are giving rave review in social media. Ordering from Indonesia is next best choice to making them in Bangladesh. I believe this order may be for BG coaches.

PT INKA has their second factory for train manufacturing and located near the sea to minimize the transportation cost. It is made for export oriented order.

In 2020 though

Yup brother Bilal, and also BD garment penetration in Indonesia market is also very good now. After I bought Levis Jean made in Vietnam around Q2 2022, I got good jeans made in BD which I see has better quality than Levis jean made in Vietnam.

People are missing the point.

BD needs to specialise in a select few areas and be very good at what it does in these fields.

Garments, Pharma, IT, Electronics, and Shipbuilidng are more than enough for BD industry to focus on this decade and early part of next.

Making something non-strategic for the sake of it is a fool's path.

Those countries that try to do everything usually end up doing not much well.

In a country like Bangladesh most of these sectors would fail without policy support from the government, which is why I think getting into all other niche sectors is pointless for BD.

The government simply does not have the capacity to provide policy support for every single sector.. I prefer it the way it is, with the various industries that look very promising.

If the industries can fend for themselves without support, show sustained growth and are profitable then maybe the government should take a look there.

But Bangladesh is horribly mismanaged and adding more tiny cogs into the machine might just cause more harm than good.

Making Rail coaches is not high tech business, in Bangladesh and Indian context. It is just cutting and welding sheet steel per plan.

Indonesia has far better facilities and their product will obviously be better.

Look at this ICF Railcoach Factory in Chennai - the place looks like our Sadarghat. Kharap kotha bolar dorkar nai.

Having defeatist attitude is the bane of our country. We have this attitude "Kora jabena, hobena". Did anyone ever try one friggin' time? I mean give it a single attempt?

What is worst that could happen if they tried to assemble a rail coach? We already have the facilities. If it turns out to be too expensive, we keep on importing.

For you Bangladeshi doubting thomases, we already make triple axle bus bodies in Bangladesh as well as very complex marine vessels, some with waterjet drives as well as electric azimuthing drives (tugboats).

Making rail coaches is slightly more heavy duty than bus bodies with different bogie units (instead of wheel axles) underneath (which can be and are usually imported). It is nothing that local expertise cannot assemble. Expert Shipbuilding welders in Bangladesh are a dime a dozen.
