Local media sucks at defence reporting. PSF guys have been proven to be reliable in the past
That's great

Yes, that's correct. However, I have a question for you, Sir.

My understanding is that if you sell it for $100, maybe $80 of that will go towards production, which covers the cost of the airplane and the suppliers of their parts.

According to a comparison between the two nations, Pakistan will receive $10 and China would receive $10 out of 20.

However, China is the main supplier of the parts; they will earn around 75% of the $100, (5% will additionally go to Pakistan since assembling it). When Pakistan replaces the parts on its own, this will only be more advantageous for Pakistan than it is right now.

At the business level, this is what typically takes place.
I don't have such details but nearly 66% of the components of the aircraft are manufactured at PAC. big ticket items like engine, radar (for now) and weapons are supplied by China. Pakistan stands to do well financially if this deal materialises. Let's wait and see 👀.

Fighter aircraft from Pakistan: Iraq fifth country to initiate deal for JF-17

ISLAMABAD: Iraq has become the fifth country that initiated deal for purchasing JF-17 Thunder fighter aircraft from Pakistan and concluded it successfully.
Pakistan has been jointly manufacturing the aircraft with China as Islamabad is also set to export its JF-17 Block III aircraft to Malaysia, Nigeria, Azerbaijan, and Myanmar. Sensing the Thunder’s might, several countries have shown interest in Pakistan’s pride. Earlier, Argentine had also studied the combat aircraft. The sources said the Iraqi government has approved an outlay of $664 million for the purchase of 12 JF-17 Thunder Block III fighter jets from Pakistan.
It was reported earlier that Iraq had signed a contract with Pakistani company to purchase an unspecified number of aircraft, believed to be JF-17 Block III. Iraqi Defence Minister Jumaa Inad has been quoted as saying, “We signed a contract with a Pakistani company to purchase aircraft.” The negotiations for the sale of the jets continued for more than two years. The defence deal was approved by governments of Pakistan and Iraq. The JF-17 Block III jets, which are the latest model of the successful JF-17 could be a welcome addition to the Iraqi Air Force. Iraq is interested in acquiring JF-17 Thunder jets to use them against drones since it has been facing constant threat of their use by its adversaries. The purchase of aircraft from Pakistan would be the biggest defence deal between the two countries in about forty years, the sources said. Nigeria has already inducted JF-17 Thunder aircraft in its air force and they are providing services in a satisfactory manner, the sources added.

This Arabic source is reporting it. Says the sale hasn't been officially signed pending approval of a defense bill in the Iraqi parliament this year. After which it will become official.

This deal won't materialize. The Americans will make sure of that.

The Iraqis are doing the right thing by diversifying their defensive gear, this would shield them from falling victim to rearmament embargo similar to what the US and west imposed on them during the ISIS incursion in Iraq.
I'm sure USA pressure will be immense to stop this deal (if true)

I have a few questions.

1. Is Chinese engine even compatible
2. how different are the dimensions of the engine.
3. Was the JF 17 ever tested with Chinese engines.
4. Is the effort even worth it given how many modifications will be needed, we are talking about changing the heart of the aircraft.

The major concept of JFT / FC-1 is plug n play and capacity to put systems and engine as per customer requirements, the bird can accommodate Chinese, Russian and even European engines like EJ-200 which was also on offer to Pakistan by R&R.

Pakistan will make more profit providing training and supporting the servicing of the aircraft as well as munition sales.

Hopefully if/when Iraq goes for a follow in order, it can work with the PAC and CAC to build out a WS-19 equipped version with a dedicated IRST and other features to make it a competitive A2A platform against most platforms in the region.

New gun with better AoA is needed for JFT.

Definitely a possibility

And it's not that the U.S will send a order saying you can't buy JF17s

Its more likely they will offer to provide more F16 weapons,, loosen up a little bit,, or even pay off Iraqi politicians to vote against the defence bill in parliament

News at the moment is, agreement between militaries etc has been agreed now it's upto Iraqi parliament to approve the funding

So looks good but could fcuk up at any point for multiple reasons

However the JF17 would be a excellent string less platform for Iraq

And if we can crack the Arab market, we will get more orders

I am pretty sure the Americans will act as a spoiler. They have done it in the past.

This can be next mig 21 of Arab world, Egypt next I guess.
Profits can be used towards next generation fighter that frankly needs a kick in stomach to get rolling

It definitely can
However their are a lot of obstacles in the way

Others will know this also and will do everything to ensure that this doesn't happen

HIGH PROBABLITY THAT THIS IS NOTHING MORE THAN A FAKE NEWS BY THESE DESPERATE GHQ GENERALS.

JFT was expected to replace or fill in for F-16s. Looks like the program fulfilled.

Now you will get to hear the expertise from Tejas program - brace yourself. The learning curve starts and stops on Tejas, all else vanishes.
