China Practices Intercepting U.S. Stealth Fighters

The Chosun Ilbo (English Edition): Daily News from Korea - China Practices Intercepting U.S. Stealth Fighters

The Chinese People's Liberation Army recently staged an intercept exercise targeting the U.S.' latest stealth fighter jet, the F-22 Raptor, Hong Kong's Apple Daily reported Thursday.

Japanese media on Oct. 3 reported that the Japanese and U.S. militaries will carry out a joint exercise to practice recapturing the disputed Senkaku or Diaoyutai Islands in November, in case the Chinese capture them in a surprise attack. It said the U.S. nuclear-powered aircraft carrier George Washington and F-22 Raptors will take part in the exercise.

On Oct. 8, five days after the report, a Chinese Air Force brigade in the Chengdu military district practiced firing a Hong Qi No. 9 missile, China's newest ground-to-air missile, to hit a target assumed to be an F-22, the Apple Daily said.

The Science and Technology Daily, published in Beijing, wrote a story about the drill. "Right after the radar sent the information on the location of the stealth fighter to the missile launch team, the Hong Qi No. 9 missile flew into the clouds and an explosion was heard only 40 seconds later. There was loud applause for the success of the exercise," it said.

BS news. Don't believe anything published by Tabloids like the Apple Daily.

We cannot believe anyone just like that.

Shooting of F117 by S-100 showed how stealthy it really was....so did U2 Inicident.

The point is, if the radar can actually successfully track F/A 22 RCA target, then all that is needed is to send those (moving) co-ordinates to the missile and it will intercept it. You can create a missile with Radar guidance and then like switch to IR homing on jam etc.

So issue is detecting the F-22. Once that is done, it will be history....

F-117 follow pre-determined path to bomb its target, and its was accuretly studied and wargamed by Serbian SAM operators. In fact, Missile never had a direct hit on F-117 rather its was proximity detonation, then only it never detered F-117 to carry out its bombing operation, as USAF avoid mistake of not following the same path.

First determined the difference between actually and successfully, and then tell us how does it will become equal to shooting down F-22. And how one can create missle with radar guidance and then switch on IR homing on JAM etc?

the test is just a fake show to disrupt the joint exercise in nov..this news came just before the exercise, incidentally in which f-22 going to take part.

chinese have solution for everything.they can blow out aircraft carriers with ballistic missiles, shut down f-22..

Once the same was proved by downing the supposedly invincible "U-2" with outdated Russian SA-2 missiles. The world at large does not understand the Chinese ingenuity aka "juggar" aka modding.
:azn:

What an assumption ? :hitwall:

No-one except the topmost echelons of the USAF and LM/Boeing know the full capabilities of the F-22 and here we have a test with a target that was assumed to be F-22.

Good going.

the small RCS on the F22 even if simulated on the radar screen by the Chinese SAM operators ......will not result in downing an F22....what about Electronic warfare and anti SAM measures of the AC ?......

an utterly vague report lacking in critical specifics.....similar to the Aircraft Carrier killer missile......it seems to be intended to reassure the PLA lower levels of their war- capability....and simultaneously issue a warning to the U.S-Japan alliance over the disputed islands..... an empty threat exposed for what it is......:blah:

if it is a desperate chinese nationalist internet user not authority makes it up, it is no big deal, right?

Not desperate Chinese nationalist internet users. More like "ming zhu jing ying" in Hong Kong helping playing up China Threat.
