China’s J-10B fighter to Pak worries India

After the collapse of Soviet Union, China managed to obtain hundreds of defence experts from Russia who lost work in their homeland. These experts sped up Chinese military modernization considerably. Every modern plane that China manufactures today contains the sweat of at least a few Russians. Hell, according to pupu, those experts hired by China even had imput on 5th gen fighter program. In many ways, these programs are a continuation of what these Russians could not do in their home country.

But that is impractical. Tejas and J-10 are different categories. It is just like saying J-10 vs the MKI which again are of different categories. Tejas in its category is doing very well. It is only the inept red-tapism of bureaucracy that has stopped it from coming fast. ADA has done a fine job after its engineers were not even allowed to take their own files from Boeing's office as the news of sanctions was announced. Meaning they had to do everything all their work from scratch.

The program was actually started in 2001 with serious meaning which means 11 years is pretty good considering that 6 of those years we were under sanctions (for the engines that we had paid for already).
Sir if grippen can take on miraage 2000,f 16 then why can't lca can take on J 10.....i mean with around 105 KN engine and 10 hard points...better avionics with the help of our expirience through upgradation and tot of other aircrafts and with the help of israel and french....we can surly make sure that lca tejas to be better equiped to take on j 10 one on one basis...

Stick to the topic

I'M STILL LAUGHING AT THIS....... SOON YOU WILL NEED J-10B TO COUNTER OUR TEJAS :rofl:

Tejas Mk-2 will really be a match to J-10B .... We are just counting on increasing the hardpoints (which is mostly unlikely but with 8 points it is a force to reckon with)... It will have a increase range and new avionics.. in addition to that Derby missile is armed.... it is really a deadly beast for J-10B...

The J10 would add more muscle to the PAF but the numbers, even though initial are less and 36 Jets would form 1.5 squadrons. But the real game changers would be the AWACS they are getting from China.
We have just 3 AWACS now and in a few years that would increase(orders placed for 11 CABS AWACS+more IAI Phalcons) but PAF has more than 5(5 SAAB 2000+"x" number of KJ2000) now. So,IAF would be more concerned about these force multipliers IMO.
IAF satellite launch is late next year or early 2013(I do not know the exact date) and this would help IAF to be more net centric.
We have to invest heavily to get more Akaash mark-1/2 SAM's as they are economical!

tejas needs a good missile if it wants to counter the j 10b.
The derby is extremely good in terms of electronics and seeker tech but not all that great in terms of range ( 50km ), this will be solved upto a certain extent by getting the astra (80km ) but astra falls in the category of the rvv ae, which will replaced by the rvv sd and rvv ae pd when we start getting the pak fa.
What we need is a 100km+ range new missile on the lca mk2. Meteor would be ideal - it will also increase commonality with the mrca and we are getting tot with mrca so we should be able to integrate it with lca.
Tejas with meteor( or some similar missile) will be able to offer very stiff competition to j 10b.

What category are you putting our Tejas into ?
well what ever it is what I really mean to say is if we can make tejas a way more lethal than it is right now by using the tot we gonna get with our signed deals it can really take down j10b during battle and please we donnot one see what cattegory a plane lies in a battle.

Astra MK2 will have better ECCM and a range of at least 150km

buddy source ?

Astra - Mach 4 + speed with 100 KM range.
Brahmos - Mach 2.5 to 5 speed with 300 Km range. (Only with MKI)
Novator K-100 - 4,000 km/h with 300-400 Km range. (Only with MKI)

All these 3 will be inducted within 3 years and Astra will be fitted in all Su MKI, MIG29, MIRAGE MK2, TEJAS Mk-1,2. Also PAK FA / FGFA and AMCA later. Nirbhay 1,000 Km subsonic will be fillted in MKI after 2017.

Guys I know there's nothing in this thread to talk about in this thread but still stick to topic.

astra is not out yet, and the mk2 will take at least a decade - the meteor is almost ready only abt 2 yrs of development left.

Astra MK1 will be ready for production by 2014 MK2 of it won't take a decade do not castigate our indigenous defense base bro

the Meteor is expensive if indeed we do buy them we should place them on our 5th gen fighters like FGFA and AMCA as well as LCAMK2 (2017 and beyond because LCAMK2 will start production in 2017) and the MMRCA fighter but Astra MK2 should be ready before 2020 with 150km range and don't forget we have K-100 missiles besides we could also by Russian R-27 R-33 and R-37 missiles
