Likely rubbish,i am from kolkata in 22 years i have never seen this sort of discrimination or religious fear....here the boogeyman[if there has to be one] is the maoist these days in the western jungle areas of WB or interparty violence between CPM and trinamool congress.
And beef eating is certainly not taboo,though everyone has choice when ordering whether content should be included or not.Certainly no fanatics will kill u if u eat,knowing from personal experience.

What the article claims and what the ground reality is in Kolkata , is as different as zameen - asmaan. Batman should be invited to Kolkata and made to see things with his own eyes. Bengali s are quite hospitable. A traditional dish of mishti doi and rasogollas would surely cool him down, a bit .

I don't have the Census figures at hand, but would it not be a fair estimate to say it would hover around 13 to 15% and counting?
