Aren't these being purchased for VIPs?IMO our VIPs don't deserve these birds.They should be thrown into old Mi-8s.Also can someone tell me why Manmohan and Prathiba still use Air India boeing 747-400s.Weren't three 737 BBJs purchased for the president and the PM.

but regarding your Qs-These helos are for the highest and most important elected officials in India (and in some cases the Pres)- the PM,Vice PM and (to a lesser extent) DM and service chiefs. These people need to be protected and provided the highest possible security cover the nation can afford. We can only assume it would be of HUGE value to any rouge/terror group to take out any of these guys and added to that such an event would have a huge impact on the nation and national security and a whole.



+the BBJs are for domestic travel within India/the immediate neighborhood. The AI 747 (Air India One) is for longer trips ie intercontinental travel.
