I think Cow slaughter is banned in India. But you can import it from other countries. No country can be truly secular in every aspect. Sometimes minorities have to give in for majorities. Except for some minor things, India is pretty good at preaching secular morals.

I had a number of muslim friends growing up. We exchange dishes during festivals. Biryani is my absolute favorite. Ramazan mubarak.

If you tell this to any keralite irrespective of their religion, they will show you what slaughter actually is.:flame:

To the guy who asked about elephant head. Why can't god find a normal human head.

The story of the birth of this zoomorphic deity, as depicted in the Shiva Purana, goes like this: Once goddess Parvati, while bathing, created a boy out of the dirt of her body and assigned him the task of guarding the entrance to her bathroom. When Shiva, her husband returned, he was surprised to find a stranger denying him access, and struck off the boy's head in rage. Parvati broke down in utter grief and to soothe her, Shiva sent out his squad (gana) to fetch the head of any sleeping being who was facing the north. The company found a sleeping elephant and brought back its severed head, which was then attached to the body of the boy. Shiva restored its life and made him the leader (pati) of his troops. Hence his name 'Ganapati'. Shiva also bestowed a boon that people would worship him and invoke his name before undertaking any venture.

In Hinduism, sleeping while facing the north is not allowed. Can't give you the reason here. So they couldn't find a human in that position. They only found an elephant, so the elephant head. Also, there's a back story to that elephant. That's not relevant here.

The problem with the Indian cartoons is with the language they use, please don't forget that the target audience of the cartoons is children and not adults, some of the words they use in Hindi dubbed cartons are inappropriate & there fore should not be allowed to pollute the the young minds, there is no need to politicize this issue.

What are inappropriate according to you, Cartoons dont have any abuse or porno related language? If I know Kalma & many other muslim religious practices and hear Azaan daily since I was kid (As I stayed in Muslim majority area). According to you I would be polluted.. right?

Sparklingway Sir, can you please sparkle now and close this useless thread? :coffee:

to add to it, Shiva asked to bring the head of any kid only in case where the mother is sleeping with her back to the kid.

Somebody said in one such discussion that in Pakistan can preach their religion and Christian missionaries do the same in Pakistan and now ban on Cartoons.

:) If you want to preach religion come clear on it do not come up with excuses that showing god hunuman, why he is worshiped and whey he should be, is entertainment for kids. ITS NOT.

First of all These cartoons don't preach Hinduism but they teach morals and if you dont want to watch it then switch off your TV. Same Bigots who arer supporting this always shows their concern for Indian minorities... Bl00dy Hypocrites..

Big difference between morals and showing why hunuman should be worshiped.

By the way your Adnan Sami has sung song in Hanuman 2.. Please call him Shirk and generate a Fatwa against him..

He is a grown up man and if he commits shirk he will be answerable to his God we do not need any fatwa against him.

He can bow before kali mata and similarly any grave thats non of my business.

Just because you don't understand the obvious there is no need to jump to illogical conclusions............... In Chota Been i once heard the dialogue like "Yeh Mamlak ho gai hay" there is no need to tell children of 4-6 that she is pregnant
and once in Johnny bravo i heard him saying "Chumma tu deita ja sundri"
Indian cartoon channels do use inappropriate language & they were also banned because of these concerns some 2-3 years back.

BTW does shirk mean that any muslim who goes to Azmer is not a muslim in reality...??

Simple intolerance and fundamentalism of Pakistan.
Nothing intolerant!
Like Desi Sher said,Pakistan is a Islamic republic.

I think its more to do with appeasing domestic religious extremists.

For ex:(at 4:20)In the below video the religious guy says :As time passes our hatred for Hindus will disappear and we"ll get closer, hence its the Law's responsibility to ban such channels.

There are countless cartoons that are aired in India that show the travels of Jesus(or Yeshu as called in Hindi!), etc.

True!
The serial Daya Sagar based on travels of Jesus, made Christ one my first positive figures of my childhood.

PS:can i borrow your signature,its very sexy :D

if it's true, i have to say it's an immature step. what is punjab govt trying to portray here? are they trying to tell their own people that they are insecured about their own religion?? one should be proud of their own skin. when you do these kind of things, you are only showing ouside world that you feel sense of insecurity. when you feel insecured, you target others!!

It is more immature to make religion based cartoons.

anyway i support this move. better watch Tom and Jerry whats the need for showing crap from India anyway

Good work , but they need to focus on flood victims right now rather than banning cartoons.

yeah really nice work, I hope next time you won't scream with 'Holland's Islamophobic vote'

Its simple, Muslims can't even agree among themselves, Mullahs keep declaring each other Kafir even Quiad was Kafir-e-Azam

But shirk is different

may be the neo-liberals are more easy with telling children of the age of 4 or 5 about such things lolxz

and yeh that hindi dubbing is more hilarious too

I watched one episode of chotta bhim on weekend as a kid in my house was watching the serial. It was about some magician stealing a toy from the toys wonderland. The toy could dance and entertain with his funny acts, but the magician used to keep it in a little box so the toy became sad whenever it had to go back to the box after giving performance.

So once the magician was showcasing the toy in front of a king, with chotta bhim and his friends also watching it. So when the toy was going back to his box after giving his performance, the toy bacame sad, and then bhim's frnd asked the toy why he is sad and he told he doesnt like living in small box .

then chota bhim and his friend save the toy from the magician. it was engrossing and very entertaining and very well made episode.

so much for teaching religion. and making some foolish politicians fearful of loosing their religious beleifs coz of it.

We didnt made it.. your Punjab government made it religious preaching.. Did you see any such cartoons or just arguing? Go and see those cartoons where they speak in english and even dances. Those are for entertainments and not mentioned in our religious books.

And when you cant tolerate such cartoons then how would you allow such preaching?

Big difference between morals and showing why hunuman should be worshiped.

Need to see before than commenting.. My friend Ganesha 3 has rats playing ICe hockey.. do you think it is religious?

Why it is suddenly none of business when Adnan is performing Shirk and it is your business that kids should not see some Cartoons? Hypocrisy isn't it?

I have a cousin who works with PEMRA & i did raise this question with him that why Indian Cartoon channels are banned & his reply was the same that they use inappropriate language for children & this is an open fact, i am not sure about Punjab governments stance though, so i wont comment on that. Please keep in mind that with exception of few circles most of the families in Pakistan don't let their children watch Indian flicks as well unlike the kids in india who are quite accustomed with bollywood culture and its lingoo. A few years back Shehzad Roy made a song called "Salli" & there fore he was subjected to severe criticism for using this word in his song & he even had to come on screen to clarify his intentions.
