Hong Kong domestic helper jailed for spiking employer’s meals, hospitalizing mother and young son

Calm down, bro.
Due to the language and geographical position advantage, Singapore is bit addictive to cheap foreigner labors.
But call it slavery is an overshot...

He's a troll...

In fact I has this argument with him before with his previous accounts, @Yingluck and @Lux de Veritas.

Both accounts got banned in the end because of excessive trolling. The same language is used. What greedy Singaporean elites, slavery, white men, Uncle Ho, etc.

Just a quick search on his previous accounts, lol.

The modern slavery system hurt Singapore, poisoning their pysche to despise menial work, as one Singaporean members clearly manifested.

While other Singaporean member are unapologetic about the evils and keep attacking me, despite their system have caused unwarranted harm to 40,000 of migrant workers, infecting them with coronavirus.

They are sick in their mind.

A shame of humanity.

Other rich countries except for Gulf states, hire their own people on menial jobs.

This system harm Singaporeans in other domain as well.

Ho Kwon Ping, a rich man in Singapore lamented the low productivity of Singapore construction work compared to high cost countries, who hire local. I think he found it cheaper to build in Australia.

The use of slave have impede development of automation, a harmonious and productive working culture, and also in terms of technology.

Depends on how many of them.
A few years back, there was too many of them, and so we complained through our votes.
Singapore is an immigrant nation, and there are only so many of us.
There are many types of jobs that we locals prefer not to do.
I am not going to fight with the Indian foreigner over that job to clear the rubbish and sewage.
If managed properly, immigrant workers can help us grow, win win.
It is all about growing the pie, not a zero sum game.

Problem is foreigners in management positions have a tendency to employ their own.
There is now a requirement to employ locals first.
If companies are found to give preference to foreigners over locals, we can make a complain against them.
.

I don't think so. Economics is not a zero-sum game. In any economic structure, there must a be certain percentage of low-end jobs which needs to be filled. The majority of low-end jobs are taken by foreigners, so that frees up better jobs for Singaporeans. There are Singaporeans who will be hard-hit by the competition, but they have negative income tax (workfare) and cheap public housing.

The figures speak for themselves. Unemployment rates are low and real incomes have seen sustained growth, even among the bottom 10% of households. This is very rare among developed countries which have seen stagnant or declining real incomes even at the middle class.

I have written in greater detail in this forum before. If you have time:

Damn, I can sense meritocracy from both of you.
That's the biggest culture shock for me since I came to SG.
Despite don't like socialism, but I guess it more or less affected my thoughts.

So eating Zongzi makes you Chinese but worker solidarity makes you a foreigner?
Not really, I just wanted to see if you know what zongzi is. Apparently you thought it was a meme. So you're basically not more Chinese than @Daniel808. Hope you understood now and I don't need to explain to you like a 12 year old.

Hong Kong's legal system should give priority to the indigenous people more. Indigenous peoples are being abused and attacked everywhere.

Hong Kong's "indigenous people" are assholes. And these employers already have the upper hand in most everything.

The hell u talking about? Chinese workers are one of the most abused on the planet.

Chinese construction company especially are notorious for withholding checks & working some of their workers to death, literally!

Apparently "reading" is not your strong suit. LOL

Yes, there were a lot of issues of withholding checks for immigrate worker in China in early 2000s. It triggered a lot of my angers every time I read such news when I was still in China.
I remember Gov even requested those small construction companies put deposit(some percentage of total worker's salary) in Gov or bank around that time if I remember correctly.
Luckily this has been largely solved in past decade.

But again what does it to do with this conversation? I guess comprehension is not your strength?
