Apparently he was the liaison officer for the General, the pilot perished in the crash

Wing Commander Prithvi Singh Chauhan was the pilot of the ill-fated Mi-17V5 helicopter carrying CDS Gen Bipin Rawat.

I stand corrected but confused.

so did they move him away from flying duties due to his tejas episode? must be well connected. instead of court martial he gets a medal and promotion?
Apparently Tejas lost it's flight control system....and he managed to recover the aircraft.

another thing I just remembered in UK a Chinook crew comprises two pilots and two crewmen and some additional specialists depending on the mission profile. does anyone here know about the crew compsition of an indian Mi-17V5 ? I do not know it.

Unlike the general perception, the Indian fleet is rather new.

''The Indian government had awarded a contract to the Russian manufacturers for 80 Mi-17V5 helicopters in 2008 at a cost of USD 1.3 billion. While the first of these were delivered to India in 2013, the final batch arrived in 2018.

The helicopter has many variants, including a 36-seater for carrying troops, for cargo transport and a version with an emergency flotation system. It is operated by a three-member crew — a pilot, co-pilot and flight engineer.;;

I know you have strong feelings but soldiers have to maintain their professionalism.

Taking trophy photos and hiding bodies is not professionalism. These people are no longer soldiers and have become animals.

Soldiers have codes of professionalism they must maintain.

Carry out your orders and be disciplined while doing it.
I agree..
A soldier can refuse a barbaric order. Geneva convention is no more. Sad
I wonder what will they give him now.
They will burn him again

What happened to his hat is what I want to know.

I hear it's still tilted to the side of his head. Didn't budge an inch.
so who's next in line?

Probably another Hindutva that aligns with the extremists RSS BJP government that promotes the lynching of Kashmiris and Muslims...
I wonder what will they give him now.

He will get a gallantry award for the Bollywood Surgical Strikes against Pakistan...
Agree 100%. To celebrate the death of a CDS of an enemy country in a non-combat situation is still in extremely poor taste.

Combat situation is a different matter.

Decorum must be present for this sort of thing. Enemy combatants are still soldiers in peacetime and deserving of professional respect.

That's something Indians do... Not us.

As you live, so will you die....

Looks like an internal ops....
A very sad day for Pakistan & China. It’s a huge loss. I doubt if this void could ever be filled again. I am sure He ll be dearly missed at GHQ Pindi.
The Pak establishment let him be off the hook on 02-27, but not the Indian establishment....

The butcher of Kashmir is dead and the world will be better for it.

To Pakistanis who are sending "condolences" and "mourning", this war criminal defended using Kashmiris as human shields and their torture, wanted internment camps for Kashmiri children, blinded Kashmiris en masse and placed Kashmir in the longest, most brutal lockdown the world had ever seen without even access to medicine. This is a small sample of his war criminal mentality.
Have you all forgotten Farooq Ahmed Dar?

Does anyone remember Bipin's response to Major Nitin Leetul Gogoi using Farooq Ahmed Dar as human shields? Bipin put a medal on him!
Then there is the mass blinding of Kashmiris:

Insha Mushtaq, age 14, was blinded due to the tactics Bipin Rawat pioneered in Kashmir.

More of Bipin's war crimes:

As in the past, Bipin again deflected responsibility over his war crimes and defended the practice of mass blinding Kashmiris.

Do I "mourn" the death of this monster? No.

I celebrate it because it may give Kashmiris a slight relief.

The Pakistanis who are sending unofficial condolences are b@stards of the highest order.

States and institutions have diplomatic norms and international protocols to uphold.

But I, as common man, am not bound by that nonsense.

For me, humanity is supreme. I see no issue in calling a spade a spade and Bipin Rawat is the butcher of Kashmir.

It is divine justice he died miserably! Karma!

I wonder what will they give him now.

I think they will give him the biggest award ever despite never serving in war or anything just because he was famous with the Indian talkshows but either way I really never disliked Bipin Rawat he came off like a harmless guy and I mean vibe wise
