India asks mission to take up attack on fishermen with Colombo

Soon there will be a media briefing...

Sri Lankan officials will release the videos taken by SLAF UAV's regarding fishing activities……

Heavy drug smuggling active near IMBL….

There is a third party involvement in these incidents….

If India is not able to protecting its own fisherman means better equipping them with guns and rocket launchers. This move will alleviate severity of problems and SL navy never dare to mess with our fisherman.

Ya SLAF also will release photos taken from their UFO's .... Cut the crap.

As long as Congress is in power there is no end to this kind of incidents.....

I think its time India initiates regime change in Sri lanka , then take over the country and add her to the Union.....certain things should have been done during our independence.

You are right - How a tiny country dare to stop the fisherman of Incredibly Shinny Regional cum Global Cum Super Power (as per 20XX predictions) to fish in their waters.:P

I say we should deliberately keep some fishing boats very near to the border line with some destroyers beyond visibility. The moment they fire on the fishermen, we fire our Brahmos. A hard spank is what is required by the SL navy presently.

Their navy actually thinks that some kind of blockade which they created during the last days of LTTE makes them some kind of super duper navy. They should be brought down to earth.

We don't need to create some base. That would be too much fro SL navy. Our 1/2 destroyers fully loaded is enough for their entire navy.

SL is supposed to be a friendly nation, That is what both governments are saying! All options are on table!

It had not happened anytime recently!

I say a naval base in TN's East coast could teach Lankans a lesson instantaneously.

122 Indian fishermen arrested, 23 boats seized

The Maritime Security Agency (MSA) on Thursday arrested more than 100 Indian fishermen for fishing in Pakistani waters, officials said.

An official at the Docks police station said they were handed over 122 fishermen and their 23 boats by MSA officials.

The arrest came as the biggest catch of Indian fishermen arrested by the MSA in recent months.

Only on Nov 1 the maritime authorities had detained 27 Indian fishermen and seized their five boats for illegally fishing in the country’s exclusive economic zone.

“The fishermen have been booked in two separate FIRs (310/2011 and 311/2011),” said the official at the Docks police station.

“In one FIR 79 Indian fishermen have been nominated and the other FIR carries 43 names, under Sections 3/4 of the Foreign Act and 3/9 of the Fishery Act.”

Sri Lanka had previously arrested fishermen for crossing into their waters. But this time they were fishing near IMBL and not in Sri lankan territory.Thats why SLN didn't had the jurisdiction to arrest them.

The assault on them is an act of aggression and a grave violation of human rights especially considering that the attack took place outside their jurisdiction, "thereby violating international law as stated in Article II (1958) Geneva Convention on Seas".

Then let's see, what happens after 2014…….
