India-Bangladesh to start CEPA negotiations, Indian exports to touch $32 billion

It is because of people like you Kolkata Dadas including the Muslims are gradually becoming anti BD.
You are habitual fact distorter , always badmouthing us for no reason. Its disgrace that we have to counter people like you who doesn't have any decency, manners at first place. If you want to put your points be civil.
Who is shoving Indian products to you? You are a free country, buy from anywhere you like. I am also saying the same What, When and Where you buy its your business, we have zero say so on it. Why depend on Indian products and be a cry baby.
Can you establish your claim where Indian products are given free traffic.
People like you jump at the first instance to a foreign land having no foot to your country of origin. Why you didn't stayed back and try to improve your country.
Finally I am a Sanghi as much as you are an illegal immigrant in USA. Hope you are not.

You won't allow any of our exports in your market and are planning to double exports to our country to the tune of $32 Billion, and you want us to stay civil? Do you think we in Bangladesh care what Kolkata people think of us ?? I don't see that attitude when you take our dollars in Kolkata..... if you have that attitude then why don't you start refusing our money ? That won't happen though - I guarantee.

Your Banyas and Seths will screw our economy over royally and want us to stay all happy ?? Apnara amader bhat obiram merey jaben, ar amra tu shobdo korbona? Kon boi e lekha aasey ? Do your own research on how much tariff is imposed on Indian products to our market and how much is imposed on our exports to India.

Why don't you express some gratitude for making a living in Bangladesh while 20,000 people apply for one peon job in India ?? Gratitude is unfortunately alien to your ilk. Biting the hand that feeds you is more common.

Don't get all geyo Bangali style ad-hominem with me dada, I go back every year, sometimes twice a year. Don't hijack the topic.

Ignore that guy please.

He does not represent majority BD people as the opposition party BNP could only get some 10s of thousands to rally in Dhaka against the ruling BAL in government. This is a city of 22 million people.

BD is very happy with the trading relationship with India that will be the key to moving BD up to becoming a "middle-income" country over the next 10-15 years.

People like him have neither the education or the intelligence to realise that if their ideas were implemented then BD economic growth would slow down to a crawl overnight.

India and Indian people are always welcome to invest and visit BD anytime. There is no animosity against Indians or hindus in BD, apart from the lunatic fringe that government and society has pushed to the margins.

BD to India in this matter is similar like Thailand and Vietnam to China. It will be dangerous if BD doesnt industrialize.

Check Thailand and Vietnam trade balance here, despite both are huge exporters but the trade surplus is so narrow since they are bombarded with China products. Although in positive side they can import cheapers China semi-finish good and exported final products to the world.

There is reason of why Indonesia never wants to connect with mainland South East Asia...........

India has huge growing trade deficit, they will try very hard to reduce the growth, they are not going to be easy with Bangladesh........

@Indos

BD is industralising as its IT, Pharma and Home Electronics industries are growing much faster than garments.

Most of the stuff that comes from India is anyhow food, raw materias and energy. It is not industrial goods and machinery which mainly comes from China and will continue to do so.

Just a few days ago, the UK's CEBR forecast that BD will stay the fastest large developing economy in the world through to 2037.

Excellency, how will you pay India $20 billion in trade deficit every year?

Through export to the west and Japan?

We will run massive trade deficits against India and China.

Which will be balanced by trade surplus to the west and remittance.

Which is how we got to 40 billion dollar reserve?

You really are a poorly educated buffoon!!

You know your country get industrialized from your export composition and trade balance, both figures are not showing your optimist point of view. Remember, high energy prices are likely to stay based on many experts analysts.

Oil is raising again, not like the price in April-August, but shows resiliency in 75-90 USD per barrel. Gas price is still quite expensive, coal price is still at 400 USD per ton. BD has already shown difficulty to pay import using USD. Government strict measure in import rule is also not good for BD industry despite necessary for temporary pressure.

Getting more trade deficit figure will be dangerous for BD, even 2021 figure has already been so alarming. BD also dont export much product to India. Check Thailand and Vietnam trade data, China is number two export destination for them.

Simplistic way to look at it.

BD has been building up it's export industries over the last decade while simultaneously looking at reducing dependence on imports.

Over the last 12 months, import have grown by 20% while exports have gone up by 30%.

Figures before last 12 months you are right do not show BD is industrialising much.

Also its dependence on expensive imported fuels will reduce as 2.4 GW nuclear power station will come online(2024/2025) soon and hydroelectric power starts being supplied from Nepal through India from 2026.

Remember BD is in essence a dictatorship and so the government can plan a decade or more in advance about the direction of the economy.

Which decade of of first gen bdeshis are you talking, as there many grey lines.
English is obviously not your first language 🤣🤣😂😂

Bro!

He doesn’t represent Bangladesh!

Hasina does!

He is deluded and deranged!

He would source stuff from China and make BD industry uncompetitive.

This is why businesses lobby supports BAL.

@bluesky

Excellency, how will you pay India $20 billion in trade deficit every year?

By running up large surpluses with the Western and Arab worlds.

Got it, I saw your post first.
Chines has entered all markets including BD. But gradually cost benefit of Chinese high grade products are marginalized out due to rising cost of labor in China. Countries including India are trying to take pie on it.
We are one of the largest petroleum product manufacturer in World. We sell byproducts even to Saudi Arabia, China. Cost is another major factor that you have to rely on us.
You have quite a good number of steel plants, but you have limited capability of manufacturing specialty steel.

Petro chemical industry setup cost is prohibitive.

There is no way Bangladesh can afford to enter that sector this decade.

Hence India has a ready market in BD.

Man, the fact is that in the last 12 months your country trade deficit is getting worse.

I also dont think having FTA with China is also good for BD. China is not BD main export destination, so it will be like one way benefit rather than win win agreement. Your over optimistic point of view look like being taken by your leaders as if by making FTA with both China and India your country will get huge FDI, more export to both China and India, and others........

Better play defensive when it comes to China and India as BD has huge domestic market that can be the main economic driver for BD. Just play defensive and use those 20 % tariff allowed by WTO to protect BD infant industry.

DHAKA, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh's trade deficit in the first four months of the current 2022-23 fiscal year (July 2022-June 2023) soared by 4.69 percent to 9.59 billion U.S. dollars year on year, showed the latest central bank data.

The Bangladesh Bank (BB) data showed that the country's import payment was 25.51 billion dollars, up 6.72 percent in the July-October period of the current fiscal year, while earnings from exports stood at 15.92 billion dollars, up 8 percent during the same period.

The BB data showed that the gap between Bangladesh's export earnings and import payments in the July-October period of the previous 2021-22 fiscal year (July 2021-June 2022) was 9.16 billion dollars.

Bangladesh’s Top 10 Exports

The following export product groups represent the highest dollar value in Bangladeshi global shipments during 2021. Also shown is the percentage share each export category represents in terms of overall exports from Bangladesh.

  1. Knit or crochet clothing, accessories: US$25 billion (47.7% of total exports)
  2. Clothing, accessories (not knit or crochet): $19.3 billion (36.8%)
  3. Miscellaneous textiles, worn clothing: $1.5 billion (2.8%)
  4. Footwear: $1.3 billion (2.4%)
  5. Paper yarn, woven fabric: $798.4 million (1.5%)
  6. Fish: $481.1 million (0.9%)
  7. Headgear: $467.7 million (0.9%)
  8. Leather/animal gut articles: $405.8 million (0.8%)
  9. Animal/vegetable fats, oils, waxes: $237 million (0.5%)
  10. Feathers, artificial flowers, hair: $204.8 million (0.4%)

Remember BD is in essence a dictatorship and so the government can plan a decade or more in advance about the direction of the economy.

Dont need to be authoritarian country in order to have long term planning. Here in Indonesia we also have long term planning. BD authoritarian system is not as like we see in China and Korea during military regime (as you like to mention those countries as example for BD).

1. CCP in China is very professional and relatively clean ( less corruption )
2. South Korea, unlike BD, is so protective with its own industry during 1970-2000 period. They are opening up in order to follow WTO rule and make FTA with China because they have huge trade surplus with China. Basically they are growing since 2000 by eating China domestic market since they have good industrialization that have been developed for more than 3 decades under protective trade system before signing FTA with China.

  4. National RPJM IV 2020–2024.
The RPJM is then elaborated into the Government Work Plan (RKP) every year.

Government Work Plan

The Government Work Plan (abbreviated as RKP) is a national annual development plan, which contains national development priorities, a draft macroeconomic framework that includes a comprehensive economic picture including fiscal policy directions, as well as ministry/agency programs, across ministries/regional institutions in the form of an indicative regulatory and funding framework. RKP is a guideline for the preparation of the State Budget (APBN).

Indonesia GDP growth is at 4-5% a year average while countries like China were at 8%+ at similar stage of development.

Democratic governments look at getting re-elected first.

These type of Kolkata Dadas are Kolkata BJP guys working in Bangladesh and bad-mouthing Bangladesh at the same time.

Ingrate morons like this give patriot Hindus in Bangladesh a bad name. Biting the very hand that feeds their bhikharee BJP a$$. Nimak-Haram idiots.

These Indian Nimak-Harams should be summarily rounded up, put on a bus and booted back to India. Bunch of gadhas.

Things are getting so bad that I guarantee there will be riots on the streets soon. People are sick and tired of the Nimak-Harami of these Indians minting money in Bangladesh, living the good life, while Bangladeshis starve without proper jobs. This is not ball-less West Bengal cow belters.

Spreading lies and propaganda that Bangladesh HAS TO BUY INDIAN CRAP, and that TOO, FREE OF ANY TARIFF (Thanks to our RAW agent Commerce Minister, TIPU MUNSHI).

As if we are under any kind of obligation to buy Indian when we can buy Chinese, which is far better than Indian garbage.

All Indian products are dhoka products more or less. Indian Banyas looking to cheat and defraud any chance they get.

Ask any buyer of Indian products in any Bangladesh industry.

What, When and Where we buy anything is our business, Indians have zero say so in it.
We have clean ourselves before pointing finger at others...

The major items exported to Bangladesh by India during the April-March 2022 period include cotton ($5 billion), engineering goods($2.68 billion), Agri items ($2.6 billion), refined petroleum products ($1.213 billion)
Hey I have no problem with these. I just want import reduction and as much self-sufficiency as economically possible.

I may have been born and raised in this country with its privileges. How ever I was never really cared about and being a hated minority by both 'higher caste' Asians and the main demographic, obviously I had to bear struggles.

This meant being purposefully made so I don't progress with various key skills, at times instead of being educated at young age I was abused. The level of mental/psychological and various other things you don't wanna know.

Had white Karen mums, talking and whispering that were part of the pta 'how they are stealing our jobs'. Looking at me scornfully.

Her fat round chubby son, would get hate full over a certain family member having a mere paper round Jon whilst doing his schooling.

People like you think it's a flex,,, look at my English it's so perfect. Buddy there people that came here with nothing and their English, written English is sh*t and they are millionaire/billionaires.

You also think it's flex, by branding syhleti as light skin or dark skin.... there is something profoundly wrong with you.

Thats a real flex.. wanna be aristocrats like you doing spending around 60k in loans to get a masters in English. Only to be unemployed or work for peanuts.
