India Developing, but still a long way to go

TATA Aerospace Pilatus PC12 Assembly Plant

Send the destitute slum dwellers below to your TATA Assembly Plant. India has been doing many such prestige projects that do not really earn it any prestige, but shame. I think Europe should follow Indian style. These countries should not build production factories where people can work and improve their lives. They should build only the Indian-style prestige projects and the common people should build many slums as they have built in India.

Do you guys think a few buildings concentrated at some points is a recipe for development? It is just the opposite. All the poor countries follow the same Indian formula and remain poor. China is doing otherwise. That is why it is getting developed.

Oye never mind China, India is coming along fine.

In India, industrialists build factories. Govt. too, but cannot compete Vs. industrialists so the govt. cheats with special clauses, rules and regulations.

Poverty has dipped under 10℅. Now only if the UK ( or what's left of it ) was to repatriate reparations re. Colonial avarice of Pounds 13-80 Trillion in dues, that < 10 ℅ will be done.

Modi meanwhile is drumming up Petrodollar investments from the Middle-East ( Modi likes drums ) based on civilizational business between India and the Middle-East. Muhammad's PBUH wife Khadija made her millions from her Caravans plying the India trade of her times after all!

World's Best Project
- by L&T, a decades old, Mumbai stock market listed Scandinavian sounding, 100℅ Indian Co.

Cost of Capital in India = 2.5 ℅

Cost of Capital, OECD = - O.5 ℅

Above are govt. rates. Real capital can be as high as 9-12 ℅.

Govt. of India is the # 1 customer of Indian capital, and thus Indian banks and financial institutions don't care a dime about the retail, end-user, Common Man Indian customer.

India being a true friend democracy, govt. prefers ' insider ' deals re. mega projects like the approx. $ 100 Billion Delhi NCR metro, Delhi-Mumbai mega corridor etc.

Modi govt. is working on accessing Global capital markets like former govt. Masala Bonds on London Stock Exchange.
  • They can call them ... hehe ... Incredible India bonds for all I care, point is when the govt. flips the local capital market for much cheaper Global capital markets, it will do a 1-2 ka 4 all around
Pent up Indian demand means all Globally funded mega projects are likely rainmakers.

Witness for eg. the madness of bids for independent India's first Mumbai or Delhi airports. Most South Indian cities got mega private airports a decade ago.

Summarily, Adani Construction is bidding for the Delhi, Bombay.

Alternatively, India's ex-im trade has balanced for many yrs. unknown to many because the figures hide $ 10 Billion. All figures are approx., monthly exports are $ 25 Billion Vs. imports at $ 35 Billion, packing $ 10 Billion in crude oil import.

The crude is refined in India, even re-exported; but the refined crude is sold in local currency to Indians at a juicy premium and taxed to the max. This is the govt.'s Golden Goose in revenue terms.

The world beating solar power parks, mammoth natural gas finds in the Bay of Bengal and the govt.'s e-vehicle thrust will take India out of the energy import market, in the next 10 yrs.

Reliance hit approx.
  • Pak. Rs. 20 Lac Cr.'s
Reliance also in the news re. Jet Airways, while Tata's are into Air India possibly.

Corp. India is ok. Re. poverty, it's down to < 10℅ and is declining @ 1-2 ℅ yearly depending on economy's 5-7 ℅ growth.

Prestige? nah, it earns forex and business for TATA. Countries who have big industries creates more tax revenue for the government which inturn gives govt flexibility to removing slums and creating cities or townships.
One can't always depend on manufacturing chaddi to become self reliant. Tomorrow, TATA Aerospace may design their own composite and designs who knows.

It is a recipe for development, Mumbai is just an Island, now it's expanding to Navi Mumbai. Soon the slums will be replaced with low income housing.
LOL at China, China have a clear urban rural divide. All those flashy cities you see are Urban, you don't see the other side of China much. The model would be to be like the US. Not being concentrated in cities.

Ask your central and state govts to provide jobs to the masses by spending money on Public Projects. Do not hide behind TATA. It has already retrenched 3,000 jobs and all other companies are are already doing so. People are losing purchasing power and even TATA hi-fi products are also not sold.

Let the population earn money via working in public projects and let the govt distribute and re-distribute the national wealth by providing jobs through these projects.

India developing but still a long way to go? the wait will be over soon.
This thread should be put in dustbin before January 1 2020.

Congrats, Central govt. is back in Mumbai's Maharashtra, UP and Gujarat. Telengana, TN and the big deal - Karnataka!

Those are the power states. Each with it's own specialization. Check said states for finance and each economy is greater or equal to 1 Pakistan economy.

Naive to say that, there is a sophisticated algorithm and politics that governs Mumbai MMR's transformation. Shocking is the disparity between Mumbai Vs. Delhi Municipal Corp.'s, '19-29:
  • Mumbai's MMR INR 30000 Cr.'s Vs. Delhi NCR at about INR 60000 Cr.'s/per annum
while both mega-cities are going for major historic infrastructure build out like ultra bridges, mega-metro lines and next gen. airports.

Telangana , not Andhra Pradesh , and you have to include Haryana as well...

^^^ Nice vid. Impossibly patient and sophisticated Mumbaikars, taking a hit to the chin with classic Mumbai grin and bear it. The daily grind !

Give Mumbaikars decent infrastructure and they'll take over the world with hard, smart, value-4-money work ethic.

Uttar Pradesh

- It compares with Pakistan

Disclosure: I visited Mumbai and UP earlier this year.
