India-Pakistan series unlikely to go ahead

Irrespective of his corruption...he was the chief and BCCI is in a binding agreement...either play or pay up the fines....

No fine payable. BCCI had put in a clause specifying that any series will be subject to government approval & that the BCCI would not be liable if that approval is not given.

There is no more interest left in this series because of childish attitude of Indian government or BCCI who are not taking any firm stand or position. Simply boycott all relationship with Pakistan forever and it will be a great favour to us. Why confuse?

So Anurag Thakur is not part of BJP Government ?

There is no point in playing with India, last time we went to their home and beat them 2-1. Why to waste our time again ?

India beat Pakistan in all world cups, why waste our time playing meaningless bilateral series?

Desperately waited for the series of Pak vs India. But not happy with this decision though. The series should be either in Pakistan or Dubai. :/

Its best time for India to play limited overs cricket with feeble Pakistani team. I don't expect Pakistan to win a single ODI + twenty20 match against any test playing side until drastic changes are being made including removal of Waqar Yonus as the head coach. How ever, Test match cricket is different ball game for Pakistani side now and Pakistan will likely to beat Indian side in test matches.

India Media today No CHance of Series with Pakistan and Shiv Sena also threaten BCCI and told them not to play with Pakistan

Plus after losing Hockey Match Against Argentina Shiv Sena threw Stones on the bus of the Players :D :D :D

Secular India my a$$

A top BCCI official says board is unlikely to get required clearance from external affairs ministry for resumption of cricketing ties with Pakistan

New Delhi: The proposed bilateral cricket series between India and Pakistan is unlikely to go ahead, a top official of the Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) said on Friday.

However, a day before, BCCI official and chairman of the Indian Premier League (IPL) Rajeev Shukla said bilateral cricketing ties between India and Pakistan would resume with a five-match series, scheduled to take place in the neutral venue of Sri Lanka. Shukla said the series would tentatively start on 15 December.

The official said that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the BCCI and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was signed by its former president N Srinivasan “as part of a deal that would bring Pakistan on board for the ‘Big Three’ proposal”.

According to the MoU, signed in May last year, the two countries are expected to play six bilateral series in the next eight years, including 12 Tests, 30 ODIs and 11 Twenty20s. The MoU was then converted into a so-called binding agreement in June last year, following Pakistan’s belated and grudging support for the ICC’s restructuring reforms.

In return, PCB did not oppose Srinivasan’s election as the ICC’s first ever chairman. The agreement was reported to be a reward for the significant concessions by the PCB. In August last year, the ICC, on its part, confirmed that India and Pakistan would play a bilateral series in December 2015.

Since the signing of the MoU, there has been a regime change both in the government of India and within the BCCI. Last month, Shashank Manohar was elected the BCCI president for his second term, following the demise of late Jagmohan Dalmiya. Dalmiya, during his brief return as BCCI president, was in favour of the series, subject to government clearance.

Neutral venue

Last week, following discussions between BCCI chief Shashank Manohar and his PCB counterpart Shaharyar Khan, Sri Lanka had emerged as a possible ‘neutral’ venue for the proposed bilateral series. The MoU does provide for the series to be played in a ‘neutral’ venue.

For any such move, the BCCI needs political clearance. Since the series was to be played in Sri Lanka, a third country, “the first assessment and clearance” has to be given by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). If indeed, the MEA cleared the proposal, the Press Trust of India reported, “the Home Ministry may send an advance security liaison team to the country where it may be held,” in this case Sri Lanka.

The cricket board was unlikely to receive the required clearance from the foreign ministry for resumption of cricketing ties with Pakistan, the official said, requesting anonymity.
BCCI is an indian entity and it cant make its own rules which go against larger indian interests looks like after shriniwas this rajiv shukla also needs some special treatment but great news anyway ..... there should be no cricket with pakistan till it ends its campain to support terrorists against india & ceasefire voilations and does something concrete against indian criminals hiding in pakistan :coffee:

Only BCCI can do it to WICB!!!

But on a serious note, while I agree that they should pay compensation on ground of equity, I also don't see the point of playing them. Hafeez Sayeed is still at large and so is Dawood.

If Hafiz Saeed and Dawood are still at large then why do you still have Pakistan as "Most favorite Nation"? Why does your govt insists upon Pakistan to initiate trade with India? If we're so diabolical, why don't you go ahead and let go of that unrelenting desire to have trade with us?

It's is obvious that you're ready to purse what suits your interests. So please do us a favor and don't insult our intelligence by trying to present moral justification for the sick and appalling behavior of your govt, cricket board.

This was never about principals, it was always about the spite for Pakistan that is deeply rooted in the mentality of your nation. You just can't stand the thought of Pakistan making progress or getting dividends in any field whatsoever.

You should be ashamed of what you have done to the sanctity of cricket but it requires some dignity too and your govt. and board are completely destitute in this regard too; undoubtedly without honor.

Because we are slightly better than you. Your "all things are equal" theory doesn't hold. Had you been in our position, we would not be having this discussion, as you would have wiped us out by now.
