India-Pakistan series unlikely to go ahead

Relax. Pakistan just got a $500 million bailout from IMF. So you can pay the interest on foreign loans for at least 6 months now. By then CPEC cash machine will start and Pakistan will be super-duper rich. In case these dreams don't materialize, and loan default is looming once again, then PCB can politely request BCCI again. Even we will support your case then, as it will be genuine need.
You dont need to be sleepless over the economy of Pakistan or its debt. Just stay on topic and discuss cricket instead of behaving like typical baniya

Don't get emotional. Anyway, why are you guys so desperate to play cricket with the baniyas? We are managing just fine without playing Pakistan. Does PCB need the money so badly?

no we are not desperate playing with narrow minded people who cannot think beyond money. We are angry with nakhrey of your government and BCCI. If you are sure about not playing with us then say it loudly and clearly once and for all .why signed earlier and in state of confusion now?

BCCI is eager to play, they are as greedy and beghairat as you guys are. Indian government won't play ball.

You are typical Indian moron. Those are MP of BJP who are running BCCI. You did sign agreement and we are just asking you to clear your position whether you will play or not as per signed agreement but you guys are shameless creature who are twisting things and making it matter of life or death for us.You guys are insecure with some serious complex and your government is still confuse . How long it take to say a No?

So if you are not interested then why are you jumping in to insist that we are at fault? You should not care any less?
You are at fault because you are not taking any firm stand and dont give full stop to these conflicting news and statement coming about this series ..

Why the heck anybody care about Cricket ? It is British sports fit for playing in cool Britain not suited for hot weather in Pakistan. Why not Football or Rugby or Baseball. These games are played for 3 hours max.

This series was part of the Big 3 deal reached. Pakistan was assured that Pakistan would get a series against one of the big 3 every year, hence the head of the ECB's involvement with BCCI.

This is Pakistan's home series as we have already made more than one tour of India & given them the revenue from their home series.

Now there is a suggestion by BCCI ( or the Indian Government to be more precise ) that we play in India & hence lose our home series
&

1 lose the revenue of our home series
2 more importantly face the political indignation by succumbing to the RSS.

Despite Pakistan's best efforts INDIA ( or the current government ) appears to be hell bent on using this sports or the lack of sports for domestic political mileage
& that Pakistan should not allow for the sake of any healthy diplomatic discourse in the future with INDIA.

Subject to BCCI getting permission from the GoI .

That indignity is already being heaped on you. Pakistan has been begging India non-stop and even if they tour gets a go ahead, they will play in Sri Lanka, not Pakistan or your alternate home ground, UAE..

It has nothing to do with this government per se, even the previous one didn't allow for much contact. As far as Pakistanis complying about mixing politics in these issues, they should be reminded that is exactly what Pakistan does on trade.

He is BJP MP and its BJP people in BCCI

Hardly BJP people in BCCI, there are always a few politicians involved but with the exception of Jaitley, there is no senior politician of this government involved. Individual MP's have very limited influence.

well my only question is why they are taking so long to take any firm stand? Its been end of November and they still cannot decide about series suppose to be happen in 15 dec. If you dont want any cricket relationship then simply say it loudly and clear once and for all . They should have not even signed the MoU but i guess they were not thinking about 26/11 victims when they did signed it ..confuse hypocrite approach as usual

They are weighing up public mood before committing. They were not helped by the BCCI stupidly talking about the series on 26/11of all days. My guess is there is a even chance of the GoI giving permission (there has to have been some background diplomacy to get here, not like the BCCI will be announcing in a vacuum) though some comments so far have been very harsh & many opposition parties also seem unwilling to support the move. GoI has to be careful because it is vulnerable politically if there are attacks & deaths of Indian soldiers & civilians once it agrees. Hence the caution.

& what's the GoI objection about this series ?
Security or political ?

Yes & that's the price we have to pay for letting a former Foriegn office dove & an almost anti state rebel, disguised as a journalist run our Cricket. Both of whom would run to bulldoze the borders between India & Pakistan.

But do elaborate how You come to term a mutual understanding of Bilateral series between the two nations, fundamental to Pakistan's agreement to the Big 3 arrangement as 'BEGGING'.

India isn't playing in Pakistan due to obvious reasons ( security ). And not playing in Dubai is for political mileage & the satisfaction of the local populace. perhaps a measure to test the general mood of Indian populace since the post 26/11 narrative isn't so easy to contradict for the RSS led government.

This has every thing to do with the current government. Because if it hadn't been then the previous wouldn't have requested Pakistan to come & play in India. The current government of India is in power for two reasons

Economic promises & and the anti Pakistan narrative that it successfully built & exploited.

Economics, Trade & Politics are one and the same thing & hence Pakistan's reluctance & objections to certain economic & trade agreements.

If we can't expect you to Honour a MoU about a cricket series with out you doing everything possible & actively advocating for a bankruptcy of our sports organisation then should we really open our doors to your financial muscle & allow you access to CA ?

If any thing this Saga of a sport series proves the detractors of any such policy precisely right.

It will be a political call when a decision is taken. There are security implications but that is manageable.

It is pretty much begging. BCCI does not need PCB, the PCB needs the money & badly.

The not playing in UAE is unlikely to be a GoI decision primarily, more the decision of Shashank Manohar who is in the process of clamping down hard on all corruption. The fear there, even if unexpressed publicly, is because of betting and match fixing, the allegations in the Eng-Pak series are more likely to add to the concerns.

Yeah but they worked in fits & starts, post 26/11. Pakistani players are still not allowed in the IPL. All governments, including this one will make their diplomatic moves but have to be careful of what the public mood is. The best thing to do is to put of the India-Pakistan series till next year but PCB is pretty desperate for revenues & that is what is driving this.

The current government of India is in power for two reasons

Economic promises & and the anti Pakistan narrative that it successfully built & exploited.

The part of the economic promise is correct, the part on Pakistan is wrong. Remember that in just over half a year post 26/11, the Congress government defeated the BJP comfortably (in 2009). If 26/11 couldn't cause a vote for the BJP, it would be silly to think that Pakistan would have been a determining factor in 2014.

Economics, Trade & Politics are one and the same thing & hence Pakistan's reluctance & objections to certain economic & trade agreements.

Not really. Usually countries with trade embargo & such have no bilateral sporting contacts either. India & China don't see eye to eye but trade in huge volumes. The question is how far do you wish to push it? If you insist that no trade should happen before resolution of political issues, you really can't complain that sporting ties can be held to the same criterion. Especially since this boycott has an economic reason too. India playing Pakistan will result in the filling up of coffers of the Pakistani cricket board, so that too can be part of an economic argument if one wishes to make it.

If we can't expect you to Honour a MoU about a cricket series with out you doing everything possible & actively advocating for a bankruptcy of our sports organisation then should we really open our doors to your financial muscle & allow you access to CA ?

Nope but the reverse too can be an argument that could be put forward.

If any thing this Saga of a sport series proves the detractors of any such policy precisely right.

The old chicken & the egg question. In this case the Pakistani position predates the Indian one.

The old chicken & the egg question. In this case the Pakistani position predates the Indian one.

So You admit that GoI is using cricket for political purposes & diplomatic arm twisting ?

Interesting but India did need Pakistan's agreement for the Big 3 affair, not only India but England & Australia. If India really didn't need Pakistan then why make a request for Pakistan to tour India ?

Sri Lanka is as much prone to the corruption you are hinting at as UAE. The refusal to play outside of UAE was an attempt to placate the domestic constituency & as a means to dissuade Pakistan as well. If the series goes ahead then the point to highlight for a political consumption is that look we played on our own terms and if Pakistan refuses to them we can tell the ECB ( the mediator here in absence of ICC ) is look we made an offer but they refused themselves.

No, Pakistani players playing in IPL post 26/11 would have presented a security challenge for the BCCI premier event & offered no financial benefit what so ever. Where as the home series that Pakistan gave up on BCCI's request did provide a big financial benefit to BCCI. It was basically PCB who gave up its money to the bigger & wealthier BCCI.

Despite what you hear & may believe PCB isn't so desperate that without this series it would go bankrupt. It's insisting because BCCI had agreed to a series in December 2015 but then gave no answer & upon an enquiry ( pretty straight forward & reason able thing to do ) by PCB asking BCCI whether they were playing or not the BCCI chief invited his counter part over for discussions but found himself helpless & embarrassed by RSS. That incident has worked in our favour no matter which way you look at it & it's being used for political & diplomatic mileage.

The only reason you are seeing or what you perceive as insistence ( or begging ) is because of the undue importance given to cricket as a means of diplomacy. The old man leading our cricket board is a career diplomat. NS knows that Modi has to appear strong & has domestic compulsions where as he doesn't.
Modi has the 54 inch chest image to worry & NS is after the peace maker image.

All this bravado on your side & this apparently meek response on our side is working in our favour to help balance this image that MMS & his team so brilliantly built up in your favour.
