Indian Army ORBAT Against Pakistan-Visualised

I really take the point made by the person nudging us to wake up and read that more such should be printed and read, before we open our mouths on any military subject.
Exactly dear. Obviously, reading through whatever is available even on internet would allow the members here to discuss such matters in a much better manner, keeping more of the ground realities in view, instead of just playing a numbers game which gives all such discussions an artificial color.

In this thread I have tried to not only summarize but also visualize Indian army's deployment especially along the Paksitani front.
(Hopefully this thread will help us to not only have an accurate force comparison and but also to run exercises with relative realism and professionally)

Took me a whole day but was worth it.
Any amendment would be welcome.

121 is not independent brigade, it is part of 8 mountain division

What is the size of 10th RAPID and how many armor/mech infantry units are under its command ?

Size of 8th Mountain Division is conflicting. There seem to 4+ Brigades under it.
a. 59 Mountain Brigade
b. 81 Mountain Brigade
c. 56 Mountain Brigade
d. 192 Mountain Brigade
e. 8 Mountain Artillery Brigade

These 2 brigades fall under which IA division?
a. 303 Mountain Brigade
b. 79 Mountain Brigade

Where will 50 Para (I) Brigade be deployed in case of war ?
only 121, 56 and 192 in 8

Aapka muh mein ghee shakkar.
That’s old school ! U can get innovative.

Ghee ? Ur making a curry in his mouth
Shakar ? As in jaggery, this isn’t 12th century.

What do you really get when you mix ghee with shakar.

How about chocolate with caramel coating and topping melting strawberry chunks with a layering of cream.

Or keep it simple like in army. Gulab jaman will do.

To everyone !

Get the hint ?

That’s how fauji presentations are made

Simple? Got it. The man wants simple. A simple choice of sweets from a simple Bangali.

PS: What's a Gulab Jamun? Is it that thing north Indians and Pakistanis make, something like a taste-free Pantua or a Ledikeni?

This is a paper that everyone is likely to have read - correction: everyone that reads is likely to have read.

It argues that the Indian Army needs to stop thinking about fighting wars that punish the opponent - the orthodox offensive doctrines - and to move away from that paradigm to other, different paradigms. The orthodox offensive doctrine, in a nutshell, is designed to overwhelm the enemy troops in battle, and occupy a tract of enemy land, that can be used in the treaty to follow to extract concessions and agreements compensating for the original provocation.

The recommendations are a joy to read.

So if Narinder Modi decided to attack Pakistan are Indians to believe they will somehow capture and occupy parts of Pakistan without any retaliation?

Stop it @Joe Shearer I can’t look at excellent bong/bangali sweets this early in the morning!!! I must admit that the greatest loss of losing Bangladesh was the sweets and food. The mutka qurma with a sheermall and bangali sweets is one of my favorite meals

I'll try to do what you suggested. Let's see how it looks.

So if Narinder Modi decided to attack Pakistan are Indians to believe they will somehow capture and occupy parts of Pakistan without any retaliation?
রামাযান পড়ে সীতা কার বাপ !

...to read the Ramayan and ask whose father was Sita.

...to read the Ramayan and ask whose father was Sita.

I did not understand the refrence. I remember watching ramayan on dur Dar Shan ( we lived near the border and could get this in Lahore) as a kid but it spoke about Ram’s epic battle against the ravan to get his wife back with an army. Does it say who Sita’s father was in Ramayan ?

This is a learning opportunity for me.
