Chandipur is the test site....i don't think they have storage facility there. They bring the missile from the labs directly there and test it. Also now test site is most likely to change because of Orissa Government objection. Orissa is unable to develop because of this test site. There are around 5 major sea ports with huge container terminals are coming up on Orissa coast and 2-3 of these are quite close to Chandipur test site and thats why MOD is opposing.

Now here India is facing a big problem because with these terminal the traffic on the sea lanes close to Chandipur test site will increase tremendously and thereby effecting the security of test sites but Orissa has also a valid point, Orissa can be the Gujrat of East because of its good location and the state is full of natural resources way more than Gujarat.

With many big ticket project under development and planned, Orissa will need these five ports. Not to mention the testing facility is under lease from Orissa Government which legally they can cancel after the term is over leaving MOD to search for a new testing site. Apart from this Chandipur area is also home of many rare species and because of this alot of environmental opposition is also coming.

In short Chandipur facility is most likely to be closed in the coming years. MOD and DRDO have even started to look for other sites for test range in case Orissa government doesn't renew the lease.

When were these pictures taken because last i heard Google wasn't allowed to show pictures of the sensitive areas and in some places 6 months old images are allowed in case of US, India and few more nations....??/

If these pictures are current then its a security threat and secondly thanx for sharing this information...

One more news just for you, in the next 2-3 years India will start replacing its Prithvi missile as their life cycle is completing...

Now a days its easy to to spy such facilities with spy satellite cause these place are highly secured and can easily be identified

Most of these Google Earth photos are atleast two years old coz as per agreement with Indian Govt GE won't show the latest pics of sensitive military locations in the list provided by GoI.

About all the pics etc.; Sean O'Connors site has all this info that we are looking at above. Albeit both the pictures and info is somewhat dated (I can assure you). But its good to use that as a sort of "armchair exercise" to somewhat assess what is involved. However the most critical aspects of the manufacture and integration facilities are "under wraps". And with the increasing use of rapidly mobile launchers and command and control elements; one can never be sure what is where and when!

hizara gujrat heavy water production site

HWP Hazira

HWP (Hazira) is the second heavy water plant in the country based on the ammonia-hydrogen exchange process which has been set up without foreign collaboration. It employs the ammonia-hydrogen exchange monothermal process. The plant is located at a distance of about 16 km from Surat city. Work on this plant commenced in August 1986 and the plant was commissioned in February 1991
