INS Vikramaditya trials termed successful

Seems good news but I kinda hate these delays. Why not test Vikidi in IOR instead of waiting for weather ??? IN can host Russians for testing and if anything needed from Rusia it can be airlifted

because they need to be close to their docks for any adjustments and not have to make a 7 day trip to go back and forth every time. same reason cars are not tested in countries away from their development factory. cost + time concerns.

The difference between Varyag and Vikky is more than 40 fighters have taken off from one and another one remains a casino only.. No fighters have ever landed on it.. Still they have the audacity to take pot shots..

The difference between Varyag and vikky is china learn alot from developing indigenously and we learn nothing in that matter,Varyag Cheap and vikky very expensive .For maintenance we need Russian help in vikky and Varyag maintenance done in china i mean local shipyard.

If you read the article it said Russia will deliver around next Autumn i.e aug to sept 2013 and we will see Chinese J-15 on Varyag before we have our Vikky .

Nice sugarcoated article to cover up the faults. It appears to be major fault, otherwise, it will not take another 1 year to deliver. Next Autumn Delivery means you can safely bet it will take more than 1 year, Perhaps 2014 will be realistic time of delivery.

J-10 naval version got scrapped.. and relax.. just a bunch of fighters on a steel behemoth doesn't make a ACC... what matters is the "man behind the machine"...

India has decades of experience.. while CHina has ZILCH... that's why they will think 1000 times before sending their baby to IOR.. :woot:

Exactly my thought. Another coverup because no accountability in defence deals.

“We are in talks with several Indian companies for setting up a joint venture to provide the full range of post-guarantee maintenance and repair services to INS Vikramaditya, including the supply of spares,” said Mr. Dyachkov
The Hindu : News / National : INS Vikramaditya all set for crucial, pre-induction trials

THE CONTRACT ALSO INCLUDES MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR BLUEPRINTS TO INDIAN SHIPYARDS AS THEY HAVE BEEN DONE FOR VIRAAT,JALASHWA,KILOS OVER THE YEARS WHICH UNDERTOOK REPAIR, MAINTENANCE,OVERHAUL IN INDIAN SHIPYARDS.........

I totally agree with you on experience part there is no doubt about it .
J-15 is very potent weapon system and 30 of this beast on a carrier is dangerous .
They already started the j-15 trial on Varyag .

Indian Carrier Handover Delayed - Builders

17:10 02/10/2012
MOSCOW, October 2 (RIA Novosti)

The refurbishment of an Indian Navy aircraft carrier has hit further snags, with handover delayed to fall 2013, Russia's United Shipbuilding Corporation said on Tuesday.

The previous official handover date for the carrier Vikramaditya had been December 4, 2012, but sea trials in September revealed the ship's boilers were not fully functional. This delay is the latest in a saga of hold-ups, cost overruns and mismanagement in a procurement program disaster for Russia's shipbuilders, with the original completion date of 2008 now a distant memory.

A state commission held last week at the Sevmash shipyard, which carried out the refit, assessed the period necessary to fix the ship's propulsion system.

"The commission came to the conclusion it was necessary to extend the handover date to fall 2013 due to the need to fix all the faults found, including the insulation of the ship's boilers," a source told RIA Novosti.

The handover date issue has been discussed with the customer, the source added.

Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin, who has special responsibility for the defense industry, said on Tuesday the matter of the handover of the ship would be discussed in October and early November at a series of Russia-India summit meetings.

“We are sure that all these complex problems will be sorted out at the summit,” he said.

The source of the problem, which reduced the ship's maximum speed from a design 29 knots to just 27.9 knots, was due to use of low-grade Chinese-made firebricks in the boiler insulation instead of asbestos, he said.

Last week, the Chinese Defense Minister Yan Yujun flatly denied any such locally-made firebricks had been exported to Russia.

"We checked this, and found that Chinese enterprises which make such firebricks for naval propulsion systems have never exported such products to Russia," Yan said in remarks quoted by local daily Beitsin Chenbao.

India and Russia signed the original $947 million dollar deal in 2005 for the purchase of the carrier, formerly the Russian Navy's Admiral Gorshkov, but delivery has already been delayed twice, pushing up the cost of refurbishing the carrier to $2.3 billion. :taz:

Sevmash shipyard director Vladimir Pastukhov was fired in 2007 over his poor management of the project.

The Vikramaditya was originally built as the Soviet Project 1143.4 class aircraft carrier Admiral Gorshkov. The Project 1143.4 carriers and a class of destroyers with the same engines suffered a history of boiler failures during their lives. :disagree:

The ship was laid down in 1978 at the Nikolayev South shipyard in Ukraine, launched in 1982, and commissioned with the Soviet Navy in 1987.

It was renamed after the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991. In 1994, the Gorshkov sat in dock for a year for repairs after a boiler room explosion. In 1995, it briefly returned to service but was finally withdrawn and put up for sale in 1996.

The ship has a displacement of 45,000 tons, and an endurance of 13,500 nautical miles (25,000 km) at a cruising speed of 18 knots. It will have an air wing consisting of Russian-made MiG-29K jet fighter planes and Kamov Ka-31 early warning radar helicopters.

You can see the inept Russians again try to pit India against China with outright lies. They might have bought some ordinary boiler firebricks to use them in navy boilers...

Hope Indians will wipe shine your eyes and understand who the bloodsucker Russians are!

Great news...This is what trials are there....to find faults and rectify it.

Feel bad for few people who wanted more damage than the real one is.

the funny part is how many of those indian members failed to see it thru even though it's so obviously it needs a almost 1 year major repair before the next trial.
INS Vikramaditya trials termed successful? LOL this kind of successful can only happen in india...

hey.. call me up when a fighter takes off from Varyag.. will ya ..

Indian media likes to exaggerate the simplest of problems into big calamities
and all the chinese, pakistanis and even some Indian members are gullible enough
to believe everything they say.

How poor chinese jump with glee at a few months' delay. I have never seen
more obsession. Viki has launched 40 fighter aircraft flights and sucessful arrested
landings,,,where is the Varyag in comparison? It'll be early 2013 by the time the first
jet aircraft can even take off from that "aircraft carrier"
.

Sound like your prediction is worst than WE -->The Chineses:pop:, we only predict few months of delay but your prediction a two seasons off...you just praise that nothing else will happens after your 7 boilers caught in fire  or we will laugh at your viki delay again

are we Chineses are really obsessive with your Viki :blink:well if you said so ...next time don't try to jump into conlusion too soon or you will be a laugh stoke again.

NO Viki slips in to fall 20013  :hitwall:
