What's new

Is China running out of people?

Not many , just 1.4 billion.
You should watch the video if you can many people also mean many retirees who need to be supported by the youth thats getting rarer each decade.

The fact that China is aging at a faster rate than even Japan should be a big concern.

China can easily reverse it if she wants, don't forget, we are still a communist country, we can still make things happen in large scales.

Yeah its not that easy, in fact abandoning the one child policy was to reverse the trend but it didnt help at all, the population replacement rate fell even more since then.

The communist goverment can do many things but they certainly cant force people to have babies.

Family plan is still not totally scrapped, if China does away with all restrictions and even gives some incentivess and more time off for parents, with 1.4 billion people as a base number, in a decade the number can be doubled, but that's another extreme we also want to avoid, that's why the partial restrictive policy is still in place.

You should think of it like that, there is two child policy but the fertility rate is at 1.6 already.
Make 5, 10 or no family planning policy at all the numbers wont just change, i at least havent seen any country to successfully change the trend to positive.

Some provinces even have the rate below 1 which are also the richest and most developed ones meaning the more the poorer regions develop the more the overall fertility rate will sink, this is alarming.

China was always able to have the population her desired number, Mao fast increased the number and Deng kept the number in check. They both succeed, let's see how future plays out this time. but still , it will take a very long time to make 1.4 billion people running out, the title is just a clickbait.

I wouldnt recomment the way how Mao kept the population in check but yeah, lets see the future.
Its just that ignoring a problem wont solve it either.

As soon as Chinese open immigration we Paks will go settle in Western China in hoards for a better lifestyle... This will solve the Uyigur issue as they wouldnt have problems assimilating with muslims brothers and finally solve the Chinese fertility problem atleast on its western frontier.
Everyone is happy at the end of the day..

The only question remains whether the Chinese will agree with your plan.

problem is who is goign to take care of elderly..unless your leader orders excuetion of all old peoples..china has big problem
innovation in robotics which is decades away might help but time to act is now..china must remove all barriers and maintain birth rate of 2-3(no, to slow rise)..instead of less than 1.5

Just look at all the developed economies and you basically see the same thing: falling birth rates. Two ways to change is to promote having more children. Difficult as more women enter the workforce. Second, is to increase immigration.

the delimma of the population mechanics is, there is either complete acceleration or complete deceleration there is nothing constant.

lets take an example of india, it is not decelerating, This is resulting in india overtaking china in few years or decades, while china will be a lot less populated than india in next few decades.

i have been to UK and some results of population mechanics are shocking, in a particular city when i roamed in the afternoon, i was shocked to see buses filled with oldies, not one young person was present. in complete contrast to pakistan where mostly the commuters are young men and women, not many oldies.

While decelerating population, the resources are much better distributed, but there the nation faces dilemma of old people overcoming younger generation.

regards

Well the chances are bright if Pakistan guards Chinese interests well in the region..And its not like it will be a one way movement..We Pakistanis anticipate lots of Chinense footprint in our country in coming decades..And situation dictates a policy..Even Canadians at one point thought inviting people from around the world was a stupid idea.
