J15 vs MIG29k, Naval Tejas

Since it will be a naval carrier fighter that "could" face J15 it does make sense, although it might only be useful for A2A.

I think wrt the N-LCA not being useful in the A2G role this isn't true and in fact the N-LCA will have a marginally superior weapons load to the MIG-29K. Once the N-LCA is devloped with MK.II features such as IFR and AESA the N-LCA should be a pretty competant a/c.

As if these fighters are ever going to cross each other's paths.

What's the point? The J-15 or Su-33 is heavily based on the mindset that a US-Japanese-Korean invasion on the eastern front of China.

While the MiG-29K and Tejas are chosen to make sure that no one takes our waters for granted.

Two totally different requirements.

Obviously the Mig29 and Naval Tejas would be the best, as India has them or builds them.

Duh!

What is the point of such a thread?

Based on what mate? It will be much heavier, while taking off from STOBAR carriers further reduces the payload. It has only 3 wet / heavy stations while the Mig has 5 and so far it has a lower TWR as well, we will see what the changes will bring to MK2.

Many Chinese think that SU-33 is better than MIG-29k so J15 will be much better but they are wrong because MIG-29k comes with all the latest features and many developments made on the MIG-35 thats why Russia is planning to replace its fleet of SU-33 with MIG-29k

Not only Chinese think Su-33 is better than Mig 29k...Russians too unless they have changed their minds since...:smokin: :either they told the true that they will replace Su-33 with Mig-29k or selling argument to encourage Indians.

@kiss of the dragon. The reason is 'COST'.... Please read the thread. Mig-29 naval version cost same as mig-35.... Russia dont have enough money to spend on mig29.... India can afford it while russia cant because they spend alot money in other weapons (research, developing, inducting etc etc).... Russia didnt gave much money to induct very expensive mig-29 jetfighters.... Su-33 far cheaper than mig-29 according to russia....

Things have changed (maybe they found some $$$ down the sofa!!):

Russian navy signs for MiG-29K fighters
Russia Signs Contract for Navy MiG-29K Fighter | Defense | RIA Novosti
Take-off Magazine : Russian Navy ordering MiG-29K
Russian Navy to receive 24 MiG-29K/KUB fighters - Brahmand.com
Russian Navy to receive first two MiG-29K fighters this year

This move by the Russians certainly validates the IN's choice-they could have had either platform but they chose the MIG-29K.

Its and Comparison between future Air war above indian Ocean. The J15, Naval LCA and MIG29 k and kub's.
By the way although written as vs but the sole concept of these thread is to analyse importance of these fighters to their respective naval aviation forces. Bcoz there is a little chances of direct conflict between both forces in near future. J15 most probably will be pitted agains us F18e/f, korean f15 and Japanese air force. Where is Naval LCA and Mig29k will be pitted against Paf.
The main purpose of discussion is what punch these fighters will provide to their respective navy in terms of power projection capabilities.
Note: please dont make it national pissing competition.

N-LCA : Will be more like prototype and will be used in High-Low mix with MiG29K.
MiG29K" It is one of the best 4++ gen NAVAL fighter.
Su33K / T10K / J15: Is heavy fighter, it will have more range, more firepower, more radar coverage.

At any given time Su27 (series) flanker has clear edge over other two planes....

@abindaboy i think russia decided to buy far superior and expensive mig-29 after getting extra money from india from our AC.... Mig-29 way ahead than su-33 and russia always wanted to induct it but for them it was too much expensive to buy and selling it profitable.... Atlast russia decided to induct mig-29 when their pockets were full of cash....

The Russian navy didn't get any money from Indian, the carrier was free, we paid the shipyards for the refurbishment and Mikoyan for the Mig 29s and certain parts of Russian industry for additional developments and tests of the systems. Russian navy is said to get AESA radar, but for them it is less of a problem if the early Migs come with A2A capabilities only, since the Su 33s are still in service. The French navy did the same, with the first Rafales of F1 standard purly A2A capable, while the Super Etendard did the ground attacks. The early Rafales will now be upgraded, while more capable versions were added to replace the Super Etendard solwly too.
IN don't have this luxury, we need multi role capable Migs from the start, since N-LCA is even more delayed that the carrier, not to mention less capble than the Migs. So we need Zhuk ME at the begining and will add AESA later, possibly even for the additional 29s.

i think N Lca is of no use.Navy shud have twin engine fighters for long range or to protect interest over the oceans..

That's why a naval FGFA or AMCA would be very important for IN, another point where we can learn from China, since j31 seems to be focused on the navy in first place. Initial plans for a naval J10 version seems to be scrapped now.

Don't worry that will be done by 8-10 mig-29 on vikki or iac-1.. what n-lca will do is, it will ensure no other big fat junk-15 can come close to our carriers and if it finds any one of them then it can use its bvr capabilities and low rcs to give it a big tiger punch in head.. And guess what it will win by knock-out...:victory:

Everything has been ruined once you added the joke of aviation history -- tejas into the thread title
