JF-17B Updates, News & Discussion

This means we are in a position to raise 2 more squadrons of Jf-17s. No. 18 has been in the rumours for a while, lets see which other one will be re-equipped. The calculation for 7 full squadrons + CCS element is:

50 Blk-I As + 62 Blk-II As - 2 crashes + 26 Bs = 136 pieces avlbl

Up until now before induction of Bs in large numbers squadrons used to have 16 pieces each, as multiple members have hinted each of the old squadron will get some Bs for a full strength of 18 each. So:

5 exisiting squadrons (nos. 16, 26, 2, 14, 28) will likely have 16*5 + 2*5Bs = 90 pieces

No.18 (equipped in mid 2020) to have most Bs as OCU perhaps as many as 14 Bs + 4 As = 18 pieces

Latest re-equipped squadron that will likely be able to start conversion now No.XX will have 16 As + 2 Bs = 18 pieces.

This is a total of 126 airframes (100 As + 26 Bs). That leaves about a flight worth of As for CCS Dragons and some for Kamra to test new goodies on.

Only thing uncertain about above is there is some confusion if 4 or so Bs were initially produced by China and if they are part of active fleet or reserved for testing etc. This is based on fact PAC produced 8 in 2019 and now 14 in 2020, and at some point a PAF official had said schedule for 26 Bs would be 2019 - 8, 2020 - 14, 2021 - 4.

Regardless of above uncertainty its clear one other squadron besides no.18 is re-equipping. Knowing PAF we will probably not know until first batches of Blk-3 start rolling.

@Hodor do we know the next squadron to convert after no. 18?

ok here is my count

50 x JF17A Block I
62 x JF17A Block II
12 x JF17B Block II in 2019
14 x JF17B Block II in 2020

Total 138 JF17A/B Block I/II minus the crashes

with 4 x JF17B Block II to be built in 2021 along with 12 x JF17A block III

so total 16 ac target achieved 14 dual plus 2 block 3 ;)

Some misunderstanding I think. Total 14 Block II B plus 2 of Block-II for NAF that makes it to 16 in total. I don't see Block-III produced as of yet.

ok heres my summary

JF17 Block I production rates 2007-2013

07-101 to 07-105 thats 5 units
08-106 to 08-108 that's 3 units
09-109 to 09-112 that's 4 units
10-113 to 10-128 that's 16 units
11-129 to 11-136 that's 8 units
12-137 to 12-142 that's 6 units
13-143 to 13-150 that's 8 units

7 years 50 aircraft x Block I

JF17 Block II production rates 2015-2018

15-201 to 15-216 that's 16 units
16-217 to 16-234 that's 18 units
17-235 to 17-250 that's 16 units
18-251 to 18-262 thats 12 units

4 years 62 aircraft x Block II

JF17B Block II production rates 2019-2020

19-601 to 19-612 that's 12 units
20-613 to 20-626 that's 14 units

2 years 26 aircraft x JF17B Block II

Total so far 138 aircraft so far since 2007

add 4 x JF17B Block II in 2021 + 50 X JF17 BLOCK III this would make the 188 as per Air Chief comments stated last year by 2024

Note they dont include exports + crashes

That is what is caused a piece of "lazy ***, i dont give a f---k poor quality engineering by a clown who needs to get fired ASAP for coming up with that as a solution....". Truly don't understand how any aviation engineer in China, or Pakistan for that matter, came up with that as a design solution to such a simple problem. No other fighter jet product in the last 20years has used this design concept.
Dont blame Chinese engineer. If money is enough. Anything can be solved. :enjoy:

I would like to see JF17A Block III flanked by 2 x JF17B Block II in March 2021 do fly past

I see 4 x in PAF Camo 10 x Yellow primer + 3 x Nigeria in behind the 3 tails

so 17 units in total

Similarly its 19-605 to 19-612

Yes, 17 Jf-17s, Total production run for the year 2020. Sadly 2 units of Block III were not produced due to COVID. Otherwise, Alhamdulilah PAC is on target.

Hopefully, PAC will get on with "Block III" with the full capacity of 24 units in 2021. InshAllah.

they are on track but consider they built 3 x JF17 for Nigeria those 2 Block 3 we can forgive

also I expect 12-14 x JF17 Block 3 in 2021 probably not 24 units

Yes I definately saw 17-601, 19-603 and 19-604. The thing with the first 4 Bs was they were small batch production, produced before 2019 but at least 2 accepted into PAF (induction) as late as 2019.

The ceremony last December was of 'production' of 8 Bs at PAC during 2019 (hence excluding these 4). Thats why that line up starts at 19-605 (2P-65):
