What's new

Mikhail Gorbachev has passed away

Putin will bring Russia to grave like Gorbachev brought USSR to grave. Both don’t understand how to run the economy. Putin is a man of the past he is nothing more than an ex Soviet spy.

The way the US economy is run is printing money. That causes inflation.

World should celebrate the end of Russia.

Mikhail Gorbachev: Last Soviet leader dies aged 91

The last Soviet leader, Mikahil Gorbachev, has died at the age of 91.

Mr Gorbachev came into power in 1985 and was recognised for opening up the USSR and for his rapprochement with the West, but he was unable to prevent his country collapsing in 1991.

The hospital where Mr Gorbachev died said he had been suffering from a long and serious illness.

What are your opinions on Mikhail Gorbachev and his legacy?

What foreigners think of him is meaningless, what matters is what Russians think of him.

The above line from @beijingwalker is an essence.
A person who did not have respect for his own nation, though he is loved by many other countries will not have any significance.
The other nations only used him as a tool for their vested interests, those who think of such a reaction as 'respect' are not on the right side.

I wouldn't be surprised to find out Putin was actually a CIA planted double agent tasked to bring Russia down from within.

Either that or Putin is out of his mind...

Mikhail gorbachev single handedly destroyed the soviet union.

A global superpower turned into a near failed state, and europes brothel.

For the west of course hes a hero. They couldnt have planted a bigger asset if they handpicked a CIA agent for the task.

For his country he is seen as one the of worse/incompetent leaders in Russian history at best, and outright traitor/CIA asset at worse

Not a good legacy to leave behind. If i was Russian, id make an annual pilgrimage to his gravesite for a good long piss.

Some say he was just that. A CIA operative. Their Manchurian candidate.

He was prefect, in destroying a once proud, powerful nation. He pulled off a miracle that even Russia's worst enemy could only dream of.

who defines powerful ?

you want to know what power is. Look at how the Ukrainians are fighting the Russian army

Russia's economy was way way better than China's back then, which just came out of the cultural revolution, it's their drastic policies which made their economy collapsed.

China's GDP: 309.5 billion USD (1985)
USSR's GDP : $2.2 trillion(1985)
you completely ignore the fact oil prices stayed below $20 until 1998

The Soviet Union was financially crumbling trying to keep up with Ronald Reagan's US arms race

Some say he was just that. A CIA operative. Their Manchurian candidate.

No, that would be Yeltsin and those who rushed to break up the USSR, not the decent Gorbachev.

The Western media portrays Ukrainians as super humans. How about Syrians? Invaded by dozens of countries including the US, and still fought them off despite no military support from anyone. Ukrainian fighting spirit is nothing compared to Syrian fighting spirit.

He was the most courageous and beneficially consequential leader the Soviet Union had. Stalin was the most destructively consequential. The many peoples of the Soviet Union, and its satellite states, owe Gorbachev their present chance at a modern, peaceful life. Unfortunately, Vladimir Putin is destroying that chance for many of them now.

Why because Vladimir Putin is a Russian Nationalist and he is for his country.

Why should Putin give a damn for what USA says? :woot:

Rarely a country's leader was loved so much by all of this country's enemies.
lol the West loves Mikhail Gorbachev because he was a traitor to USSR.

Also people believed Communism had failed when USSR collapsed.

Unless ofcourse China can present a reformed version of Communism which is compatible with Religion.

For us Pakistanis, religion is everything. We are Muslims.

the four gentlemen in this photo are all dead.

This means that a new era has begun.
