MQ-9 Sea Guardians: New headache for PN

They will be no headache. First we have enough weapons, fighter jets, and drones ourselves. Secondly we can shoot them down with our fighter jets. Thirdly along with Akinci Pakistan Navy may also get Aksungur may be WING LONG III but for sure as hell Khililzilma. Lastly out of 30 only 15 are for Indian Navy. They have to cover entire Arabian sea. So not much of a headache.
The Turkish EW suits make the difference, and no Turkish birds fly without the on-board and on-ground EW coverages. And, the "YouTube videos" say the rest of the story....

MQ-9 Sea Guardians are coming to Indian Subcontinent and their capabilities are unparalleled in this region.
On land borders, Pakistan can most probably counter MQ-9s thanks to HQ-9P defence systems,Active patrol by Fighter Jets and dense EW & radar network.
But the major problem lies in ocean region.PN is not well equipped to counter MQ -9 SG
The most advanced defence system PN is getting is CAMM-ER but its effective engagement altitude is probably 35000-40,000ft. MQ-9 can very well operate at the altitude of above 40,000 ft thanks to its service ceiling of 50,000ft.
Only choice is to call for JF 17s to engage with MQ-9 SG if detected.Since PAF is a small force (comparatively) so this will stretch out PAF even further.
_Long Term Solution for Such Threats:
Since our ship building capacity is growing,(thanks to Turks for their cooperation in Milgem &Jinnah Class Frigate project) and our land based SAM development is also on track , in-house ship based long range SAM development should be seriously considered to counter Aerial Threats from IN.
These platforms are ISAR focused, and even if we arm them, I don't think we will use them for attack. That will be just putting them in harm's way, given the limited number of these drones we are acquiring.

From what I understood, these platforms are to plug the gaps of P8I coverage. So don't think they will pose any additional problems for PN

Problem is still there
Akinci is an expensive bird and IN has readily available Fighter Jets to shot it out of sky.
A fully loaded Akinci will appear like a bomb Truck on radar

Moreover, MQ-9 can fly well above 40,000ft (40,000ft is actually the service ceiling of Akinci)
So Akinci is useful in well protected aerial environment of Pakistan but not in Ocean

Turkiye will equip Pakistan with state of the art weapons

1 --
Turkiye has developed KIZILELMA unmanned stealth Fighter Jet
and indigenous TF-6.000 turbofan Engine will power the KIZILELMA

probably Pakistan will buy KIZILELMA
and KIZILELMA to carry AESA Radar and air to air missiles in internal weapon bay for stealth flight capability

-- 100+ km GOKDOGAN air to air Missiles

AKINCI and KIZILELMA together can carry 150 km CAKIR anti-ship missiles and 100+ km GOKDOGAN air to air missiles ...

Drone don't counter drone , don't be a shithead.
you are technically correct - at some point in the near future we are looking at drone to drone air combat

Not claiming .... Reality

MQ-9 Reaper ... USA

-- MQ-9 UCAV without AESA Radar

-- MQ-9 UCAV armed with only 12 km HELLFIRE Missile and 15 km GBU-12 Paveway II laser-guided Bomb

Bayraktar AKINCI ... Turkiye

-- AKINCI UCAV to have MURAD GaN based AESA Radar

-- AKINCI UCAV to carry superior weapons to hit everything including Tank , Howitzer , MLRS , AD Systems even Warships from safe distance

-- 16 km UMTAS missile
-- 30 km MAM-T laser guided munition
-- 30 km IHA-122 supersonic missile
-- 40 km KUZGUN-KY missile
-- 80 km TOLUN-IIR guided munition
-- 150 km IHA-230 supersonic Missile
-- 150 km CAKIR next gen Cruise Missile
-- 180+ km KUZGUN-TJ modular joint strike missile
-- 275 km SOM Cruise Missile

even Air to Air Missiles
-- 25 km Bozdogan
-- 100+ km Gokdogan

@MMM-E

Why are you posting Turkish products in this thread? Stay on topic.

MQ-9B is a highly capable ASW and ISR drone with mission radius of 1200 nautical miles and significant resistance to jamming. There is no need to operate MQ-9B near Pakistani coasts to do its job, and US will be teaching Indians how to use this platform.

WE need to come to terms with the fact that India is inducting technologies to which there is no easy or convenient counter.

Any information about spec of its surveillance equipment?
I mean from how far its radar or Optical sensors can detect our ships?

Firstly these drones are for maritime patrol and surveillance, not attack. Secondly if they operate near shore, PAF will deal with them anyways. Thirdly, even though Akinci has a lower ceiling, carrying a Gokdogan, an akinci with an AESA radar wluld likely be able to detect, engage and destroy the MQ-9.

As for the range of Albatross NG, remeber, the range is actually classified. It is 45km+. This missile is CAMM-ER. The standard CAMM has a range listed as 25km+. Per Janes, it has been successfully tested out to 60km...so the true range of CAMM-ER/Albatross NG is likely far greater (likely 80-100km). In this case the altitude is the problem. That said PN also operates HQ-16 whose altitude is 18km (over 59,000 feet) so Tughrils will also be able engage MQ-9

I am waiting for Aksungur to come for Navy an at least 25 of them if not more. Plus, Khilizelma will be inducted by all three forces this is what I think.

Lynx Multi-Mode Radar = 80 KM

But Long-Range Strategic ISR capability comes from mounted pods:

In addition to its industry-leading endurance and superior surveillance capabilities, SkyGuardian seamlessly integrates with its users’ other platforms, systems, and podded technologies, dramatically expanding the platform’s multi-domain mission sets.

- and US providing cues to MQ-9B from its systems if necessary.

It will be helpful to understand how this technology is utilized in maritime operations on a broader level:

It looks like MQ-9B is not a lone wolf but an asset that is designed to contribute to naval network-centric operations. Indian navy has to fight while MQ-9B will help it fight by enhancing its situational awareness for ASW and otherwise. This technology will significantly improve network-centric operations capacity and professionalism of Indian navy.

MQ-9B can be shot down but it can also be armed to protect itself. Not foolproof but not exactly sitting duck either.

It depends on how Indian navy will absorb this technology and utilize it in the long run.
