PAF to be provided modern equipment to optimize defence capability: PM

ISLAMABAD, Dec 28 (APP): Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Thursday said the country’s defence needs will always remain a priority and the government will continue to provide necessary resources to Pakistan Air Force (PAF) to enable it modernize itself and stay in a state of readiness.

The Prime Minister was talking to Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Tanveer Mehmood Ahmad who called on him at PM House here.
The Prime Minister said Pakistan was a peace loving country and did not have aggressive designs against any other country.
“To ensure peace, we will provide resources for creating necessary deterrent capability to ensure our integrity and sovereignty,” he added.
Shaukat Aziz said to meet defence needs of the country, the government was focusing on improving indigenous capabilities as well as on joint ventures with other countries to provide latest equipment to Pakistan Air Force (PAF) to augment its capabilities.
Air Chief Marshal Tanveer Mehmood apprised the Prime Minister of various initiatives taken by the PAF to optimize its effectiveness and efficiency.
Various other professional matters also came under discussion.

It has only been in 2006 that I felt the PM and President's speeches about supporting PAF requirements are worth something.
