An army JCO and a BSF head constable were today killed and another soldier was injured as Pakistan fired rockets at a forward defence location (FDL) post of the paramilitary force along the LoC in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The ceasefire violation took place around 8:30 AM. A junior commissioned officer of the army and a BSF head constable were killed in the attack, a senior officer of the paramilitary force said. "At about 0830 hours, there was heavy firing from Pakistani (army) posts at BSF posts along the LoC in Krishnagati sector of Poonch district with rockets and automatic weapons," the officer told PTI.

Another BSF jawan was injured in the firing. Troops guarding the border line retaliated effectively, the officer said. Pakistani troops breached the truce along the Line of Control in Poonch and Rajouri sectors seven times last month.

They violated the ceasefire in Poonch sector on April 19 and shelled mortars on forward posts in Noushera sector on April 17. Pakistan had resorted to firing in the same sector on April 8, in Poonch district on April 5, in Bhimbher Gali (BG) sector on April 4 and twice on April 3 in Balakote and (Digwar) Poonch sectors.

Indian troops guarding the border line retaliated effectively, an Army officer said.
Two security force personnel were killed and another injured as Pakistani troops on Monday morning targeted a forward Indian post at Kerni along the Line of Control in Krishna Ghati area without any provocation. While the defence ministry spokesperson Lt Colonel Manish Mehta said he was trying to collect information, sources said the deceased included an Army Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) Naib Subedar Paramjeet Singh and a head constable of Border Security Force Prem Sagar. The other BSF constable was stated to be stable.

Giving details, sources said the unprovoked ceasefire violation from across the LoC took place at around 8.30 am when Pakistani troops suddenly started pounding the Indian forward post with rockets and mortar shells. The injured were evacuated to a hospital, but two of them later succumbed to injuries. The Indian troops retaliated and the exchange of fire was continuing at the time of filing the report.

Significantly, Kerni falls along the well-known infiltration routes of militants who have reportedly assembled in good numbers at launching pads across the border waiting for an opportunity to cross over to this side.

During the past month, there have been numerous attempts by terrorists to sneak over to this side. In one such attempt early April, an army JCO was killed in an IED blast near LoC in Degwar area. The deceased JCO was part of the army patrol party, sources said, adding that IED was planted by militants who, however, returned to Pakistan occupied Kashmir in view of heightened vigil on the Indian side.

Such sniper news are foolish as snipers were always present there on both side. Rating news you may call it.

Jammu: Two Indian jawans were killed along the LoC in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, Monday, after Pakistan violated the ceasefire, once again.

One junior commissioned officer of the Indian Army and one BSF constable were killed when Pakistan fired rockets at a forward defence location (FDL) post manned by them in the Krishna Ghati sector. Another BSF constable was injured in the attack.

"At about 0830 hours, there was heavy firing from Pakistani (army) posts at BSF posts at LoC in Krishnagati sector of Poonch district with rockets and automatic weapons", a senior BSF officer told PTI.

Troops guarding the borderline retaliated effectively, the officer said.

Today's tragic incident comes amid indications that terrorists are waiting at launchpads in Azad Kashmir to cross across into the Indian side.

Pakistani troops had violated the ceasefire in the same area on April 19 by resorting to mortar shelling and firing on Indian posts along the LoC.

On April 8, Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire along the LoC in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir by resorting to firing on forward posts.

On April 5, ceasefire violation took place along the LoC in Poonch district.

On April 4, Pakistani Army fired mortar shells on Indian Army posts along the LoC in Bhimbher Gali sector of Rajouri district.

On April 3, Pakistani troops had shelled mortar bombs on forward posts in Balakote sector of Rajouri district.

In the second ceasefire violation on April 3, Pakistani troops had shelled Indian posts along the LoC in Digwar area in Poonch sector.
