What's new

Pakistan Cobra Gunships and Military Aviation

I am sorry but your explanation is pathetic and laughable
as expected your post is just a matter of your opinion but you presented it as a matter of fact.
u are just like any pakistani military personnel who always believes "the system is perfect" no matter it was developed in 1947.

u are taking it personally as u said ur father is in aviation.i told u exceptions are always there.i just told u the general rule of induction in army.many of my frinds are in aviation and most of them were those who were pissed of at their unit environment, spending years in ops area etc.

my goodness you are so clueless
I feel sorry for whatever you have heard that nonsense from .

as for my father? he was not in aviation he was a gunner and retired as a gunner, you are just clueless, I am talking about his unit officer who went to Army aviation and is anything but a looser or a low profile. his junior officer then caption, in his battery has actually gone in the aviation and he is a high flyer, now major and is well respected and well accomplished officer done his staff course and done some prize postings and is now kicking TTP arse he is soon going to be promoted as well.

so whatever you are saying means BS.. but I didnt originally want to make this comment because I thought you had some information to back it up .
you are just making a clueless judgement thats all.. merely on the bases that PMA cadets dont get sent to Army aviation after completion of their course.

now read this and eat it

please dont talk gibberish now.
you are changing the subject. no one claims the system is perfect but you just condemned a highly decorated corps and its officers able to fly complex multi million dollar machines as losers and low profile.

u mentally retarded idiot my reply was not to u.it was for mr.nuclear pak.read the forum with open eyes.who idiot has appointed u moderator?u dont even know how to talk

You do realize that you're talking to a MODERATOR here and at that a very nice person who hasn't used any less than admirable words for you or for anyone else since as far back as I can remember ! Show some respect or shut up !

Irfan Bhai by gunner does that mean 'artillery' ? And you weren't a gunner yourself now were you ? :D

Okay two noob questions : In the Cobras shown on previous pages have we incorporated anything locally made ? For example these :
Locally Manufactured HUDs (::GLOBAL INDUSTRIAL AND DEFENCE SOLUTIONS ::)

And secondly whats the useful life of a Cobra ? Do ours need to be replaced ? Or can we squeeze out a few years from them like we did with F6 and took their useful life from 100 hours to 130 !

The guy doesn't have a clue about what calibre is required to be a pilot combat or otherwise.
Mentally, physically and academically, it's the top notch of the human chain.

please ignore >> epinephrine <<, mentally challenged should not be engaged in any debate.

I was taken aback by his brass comments. I thought he had something valid to backup but everything was coming from the neither regions.

The Cobras today may not be at par with the new generation Attack Helos but they are still enough to make the TTP wet themselves.

I think our Cobras got the similar MLU sort of repairs and replacement of the parts. we have incorporated our locally built Bakter shikan missiles.. I am not sure about HUD etc.

yes all artillery and air defence people are called gunners as a nick name and I belong to a military family with people in the army for over 5 generations since the British raj to this date. as far as useful life is concerned I think these cobras might have reached their retirement age but got some breather from the upgrades and maintainance . but there is a limit that the airframe can take.

Correct me if I'm wrong ! Aren't the Cobras themselves more or less indefensible against SAMs or Anti-Aircraft guns ? If so can their role be supplemented by the armed versions of the K-8s which are probably equally indefensible in that context ?

cobras are not state of the art but they are best in our hands . we are not USA or OIL rich countries so at this time our 40 cobras are better for us .world is not gonna end tomorrow we will have soon better choppers after our economy come back on track with good gov .

If armed with a lot of flares and chaff(and some ECM) the Cobras may have a good chance of surviving SAMs.AA fire will still be a problem but the Taliban are too poor and un-intelligent to afford proper AA guns!Yes,the K-8 can easily be converted into a medium size ground attack plane(like the American attack version of the T-6B).And if armed with the proper counter measures can also have a good chance of surviving most AA fire and SAM threats. However,it will require a lot of aerial escorts such as F-7s,F-16s unless it is armed with the Aim-9 sidewinder or a similar IRM for self defense.Imagine a K-8 encountering Indian Mi-35s during an air support mission and taking them down with it's side winders or even better,it's cannons!

K-8 is another cobra only difference is speed but then cobra is best for surprise enemy ans maneuverability .
