Pakistan plans to buy more F-16s

For those of you who doubt USA intentions in South Asia especially USA INDIA alliance just consider

Obama spent 4 days in India just nil in Pakistan only 2 months.

USA offers TOT and license production of both F16IN & F18S/H already considering selling F35 in future.

$10 billion is the current USA order book to india including C130J , P8 POSEDION, HARPOON, AND C141 planes.

" do you stil trust them ?????

if pakistan has 'hard cash' they will sell you too. we depend on FMS funds for everything except F-16s.

Pakistan has never had Cash. (not serious cash)

I cant see that changing any time soon.

any way all said and done f16/52 great fighters pity about usa sanctions threat

i beleieve teh inputs for more f-16 comes from the ppl who will actualy fly these aircrat-PAF

On paper your chinese aircraft mayb match teeth for teeth but then f16 is a proven platform.Reliability and quality comes at a price. In short f16 is way more confidence inspiring. SO this move is not at alla a cause for dicomfort for pakitani memeber IMHO

Indian comments: Y not buy Chinese J-10 or something els or what happened to Jf-17 ......:blah: :blah:

Listen neighbors, PAF aiming here to purchase old aircrafts from different countries and to overhaul them under Mid Life Upgrade program.
Hence a modernized F-16 in comparatively very low cost of the new Block-52s with equal capabilities.... our economy allows this, AT LEAST.
there is nothing happening with Jf-17 or Fc-20 and even no reduction in total NO. but a FEW more dozens of F-16 AM/BM

welll if we get 30 more F 16 block 52 with even better radars which we got on our new F 16 which we just got we shoul;d ask USA to put APG 72 radarr on them more powerfull and buy 40 J 10 and in future just look for chinese stealth jet will do hell of a good to pakistan airforce

still the crux matter doesnt change... if a newer JF-17 whic supposedly matches a f1-6 of medium descent can be got for less and which help your ally econocmically then why beg fro more f16s.

No one is doubting on the mumber of jfs that have been commited for production.

COst of purchase + refurbishment is it really that low compared to teh fly away price of a jf-17???

If Pakistan is getting new F-16s then I am sure, Raymond Davis will be driving in North Carolina and telling tales about his shooting escapades.

The F-16 Block 52 are superior to JFT block I

and they were ordered before the JFT.

It's just like asking why IAF is buying MMRCA when they can wait and go for PAK FA or AMCA

looks like chinese a/c not potent enough..:D paf is ready buy used fighters.. :usflag:
paf says: :tdown::china:, :tup::usflag:

Why the IAF is going for MRCA when they have invented a world potent fighter LCA ??????

It's difficult to comprehend the immediate need for additional F-16's when your are mass producing Thunder in your own production facilities. It would have been a reasonable justification if their was an immediate threat to thwart off for which these aircrafts are being procured. Moreover these aircrafts might not play the kind of role which Pakistan's AF is expecting because of the restraints and restrictions of usage by Uncle Sam. With submarine request being rejected on grounds of financial restraints, I don't see this proposition getting matured atleast in the immediate future.

The second hand F 16s that Pakistan is mulling is one of the most evaluative and comprehensive decision taken by the PAF...It can help to replace the obsolete and aging first batch F-7 and the Mirage III/V in thier arsenal. This will give them more aircrafts with BVR capability to face the IAF which is far more superior force. With the MMCA results cming up soon and the cash-strapped country can easily deter the IAF by purchasing more socnd hand F 16s and giving it an MLU.

The JF 17 whatever the jingoists might say, is just as capable as the early blocks of the F 16sit is not even comparable to the MLU F 16s that Pakistan has right now. and not even near the capability of the Block 52s the PAF is getting. On the other hand the most advanced F 16 that is going to be made is competing in the MMRCA. With the J 10B ironing out the issues in J 10A it is no where to be seen till 2014.

PAF has envisaged the threat it is going to face from its nemesis and is moving ahead and fast to close the gaps in it's air defencec and fighter aircraft strengths in both technology and numbers. It is a wise decision IMHO. Pakistan has a tough task ahead as they are going to face SU 30MKI, MiG 29 SMT, Mirage 2000-5 and the selected MMRCA aircraft. That will be around 400 fourth generation aircrafts equipped with BVR.

It is a wise decision of PAF to have a stop gap measure before closing the gap using the J 10 and JF 17. Pakistan has already been operating the F 16s for 3 decades almost...so they know te inside out of the aircraft. So it would be the best choice now as many countries are retiring many of their older F 16s.
